people who are born in the south east might choose to want to live there.....
Great.
I choose to want to live in Central London.
Would you like my bank details so that you can give me the rent to do so?
England's not a big place. We're not talking moving to Germany here. Jump on a train and it takes a few hours to see family.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

I reckon a baby from birth to year 1 can be perfectly well fed and clothed for £1. It's the childcare / loss of earnings that really costs....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

OH has cousins who have massive families - Orthodox Jews often do. One cousin has 8 children, and is pregnant. Her eldest two (both girls) spend almost their whole time when they aren't at school looking after younger siblings....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Yes - exactly right.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

That may be true, but certainly isn't true for older children.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. You could raise money for Edgy's plan by abolishing the "tax free allowance" in wages for a start. wouldnt need it if everyone was getting a basic sum each year.
Interestingly I think the new Universal Credit system is trying to do some of thisFaith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0 -
Why do people automatically presume because you have more than 2.4 children that you are the scum of the earth and blag all your money from the state? Not everyone is like this, some people just like big families and work hard to do this comfortably.
These families were hard working and earned all the money needed to give their children a decent life and upbringing.
The family with 15 children, both mother and father were given up for adoption which is why they they have so many children who they looked to love unconditionally.
I'll bet the majority of people who have 10 children or more don't work and also have a partner/s who don't work.
Clearly not all, but over 50%, easily.0 -
That may be true, but certainly isn't true for older children.
Care to detail why you don't think an 'older child' could be fed on £1k/year, given that an adult certainly could?Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

That new episode last night was interesting. The family with 10 girls seemed to be not so scrounging. But the Father was only working in a garage. I doubt he could ern enough to support such a big family without relying on handouts from the taxpayer.
The other family with too many kids (was it 13 or something) openly admitted to being unemployed.
They even got given a bigger house with several bedrooms and a comfortable life.
When the cap comes in, how will these families amnage on £480 a week? They will have to move to the cheapest part of the country to find the biggest house for the lowest rent.0
