Unlocking a Blackberry - possible?

Hi,

Is it possible to unlock a Blackberry?

I'm looking into buying a second hand one on eBay and ones that are locked tend to cost less. Can these be unlocked or is it worth paying extra to get the unlocked ones as it's less hassle?

Yes these can be unlocked but I have not found a free way of doing this yet, the cost ranges from £15- £30 to do it. There are plenty of websites offering to do this just try and find the cheapest one mate.

Ok - thanks for the advice. If it's going to cost at least £15 then that makes the total cost of buying a locked blackberry more or less the same as buying an unlocked one. It'll be less hassle to be an unlocked one in the first place I think!!

some blackberry phones are impossible to unlock at present eg 8*** series.


so no these cannot all be unlocked.

Thanks for the warning - I was actually looking at a 7100 model.

the 7100 model is ok for unlocking.

the cheapest way for you is to use the original cable that comes with the phone and an online unlock server. it will cost you about £10.00, maybe less.

ok, impossible by hardware, possible by code if its locked to vodafone for £5.00, we have done 100's.

There is an eBayer based in USA that will unlock the 8*** by code for around $14 I used the service twice, will try and find the seller and post the username.
