Been in Clayton Square branch in Liverpool today, not much left there but picked up some GU crackers for 65p, and some nice wrapping paper that I hadn't seen before for 30p. There was lots and lots of cards and paper on a few different stands but I didn't see much else there.0

Can only blame this on extreme boredom at work today and my hoarding gene. Got 11 (yes, that's right) Kiss Me Quick soaps today for 25 points each at Boots canary wharf (i left the wallace and gromit ones behind as someone posted that they were a bit hard to handle)....they had not marked them down but scanned 90% off at till - a friend of mine takes smellies to the old people's home where she works for the old dears whos families can't be bothered to visit them and make sure they have socks, vests, soaps etc (the ones in the home are like prison issue). She is an angel. :A Now they can all smell like candy and have warm feet (I sent her 13 pairs of socks after my Christmas sock invasion.)
Anyone else who has overhoarded like me may wish to think about such places (and womens refuges, charity raffles etc) to alleviate extreme guilt at over purchasing more stuff than they have room to store!!
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

Definitely. I buy sale items for the local fundraising committee of Cancer Research UK (aka my Mum and friends). They do tombola type events where people pay £1 for a 'mystery' parcel. Donate something that cost you 50pish at 75% or 90% off. Cancer Research gets the £1 and the person who got the parcel gets something worth a bit more and is so delighted they will keep coming back to fundraising events. If I'd put 50p in a collecting can, they'd only have got 50p and I get the enjoyment of shopping for bargains I don't need.
They often do events just before Xmas when people are delighted to find Xmas cards, decorations, etc, in the tombola/bran tub. I just bought a basket full of Xmas napkins in Sainsbury for 20p a go which will be brilliant for next year.
Sorry it is off topic but can I encourage you to find a local charity fundraising volunteer (not a charity shop) to help you justify your addiction!0 -
I had a dream about the 90 off sale, i got a big long box for 20 quid..god knows what it was:o***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0

Not much left in the Cambridge one but I got a nice large box of Christmas cards reduced from £5.00 to 50p0

Liverpool Clayton Square yesterday had 3 different types of Christmas cards left (2 of the £5 boxed & 1 of the pink reindeer £3.50 cellophane ones), 2 types of £3 wrapping paper for 30p, quite a few GU crackers and a load of the desk top calendars for you to make yourself.
Not much but got 5 sets of the £5 boxed cards for 50p & 5 rolls of paper all for £4 - receipt showed a saving of £36!! Never seen 90% off before so was made up! :j:j0
