This is kinda following on from someone elses thread about being bored.
I just wondered what hobbies everyone has or what people do to keep themselves busy and entertained.

I was one of the posters on that thread. I said that I'm never bored. I have to be honest though, I could probably be entertained in an empty room.
I have taught myself lots of crafts...knitting, crochet, felting and some simple jewellery making. I bake and cook, meal planning takes a while and can be fun if you look through cookery books for new stuff.
Current favourite is jigsaws. That's cheap. I buy them from charity shops or boot sales, most people are quite anal about them and its rare to get them with pieces missing. Then I swap them so I have a constant supply.
I was a single mum for a few years so it was a case of finding a way to keep myself entertained in the evenings.0 -
Ok. I admit I'm dull, but I don't have anything I'd call a hobby as such, as everyday life keeps me pretty busy! When we get a bit of free time though, DH and I like sightseeing and days out. Sometimes it might be a "proper" outing to a NT property, the seaside or a nice walk and picnic in the Peak District. We visit London every few weeks as DS1 (21) lives there, so we take him out for dinner then go exploring on our own for the rest of the day. Other times it may be a few hours in a nearby historic market town with either lunch in a cafe, or an impromptu picnic of a Greggs sandwich and a can of pop by the river - depends on funds available and weather!
I'm rarely bored as I always have books, my computer, the TV or radio and I'm one of those sad gits who gets a real buzz out of having a clean organised home and well-fed family. Hopefully you'll get a few stock car racers and ice climbers along to give you more inspiration than me with my pastimes :rotfl:0 -
I amuse myself by seeing people on here that make me look normal.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I don't believe in boredom, I am too busy 1) reading books 2) learning to write the damn things 3) blogging 4) on here or other forums, 5) googling the most interesting relevant and off the wall things imaginable, 6) planning 7) shopping where appropriate, 8) sleeping (good for you and free!), 9) campaigning.10) being with beloved family of birth including my wonderful 15 month year old niece (childcare, parenting training courtesy of sister), preferably chatting to my Scottish friend online, on phone etc, 11) watching TV (which looks increasingly biased, at best it is teaching me a lesson How NOT to be like feral driver etc 12) all the official stuff (aggh).
I don't believe people should get bored as there is so much to potentially occupy.
I am more likely to get bored by TV Repeats, BBC Bias, Right Wing Idiots, Daily hate brigade etc.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
Reading whatever books I want to the rescue!:money::beer[/B

I've just started sewing again after my sewing machine has spent the last few years in the loft! I've got some cushions, a pin cushion, and a bag on the go at the moment.0

- Catch up with housework (as I work full-time)
- Spend time with my boys
- Read
- Bake/batch cook (latest passion being cupcakes)
- Surf the net (here and other forums, online shopping looking for bargains/fashion items/homewares, also design inspiration)
- I undertake commissions of design work (doesn't bring in a lot of cash though as it's fairly sporadic)
- Watch the odd bit of TV
- Call friends and relatives
- Go out partying with friends or meal/cinema/theatre
- Make fancy dress costumes (would love to do more of this as I'm quite creative, my greatest triumphs have been Mickey Mouse, Asterix, Noddy, a superhero and a 300 warrior -complete with leather pants! however, fairly rubbish at sewing/following patterns and I don't have a sewing machine)
Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

I'm quite easily entertained too...... very moneysaving
I always have books on the go - my latest favourite being Gabriel Garcia Marquez (the man's a genius), I knit and sew a bit, I bake - lately trying to find the best vegan cookies to make so lots of testing involved. I have my own little online business which should take up more time. We live in Brighton so there's the sea and the downs to walk - great in the winter with no tourists around
There's always good films to watch, I watch some telly but not much although Come Dine is a regular here and Masterchef. I have friends round, I'm as active as I can be in a political party. None of it costs much and I'm sure there's more if I really think about it

Reading - I read allsorts and belong to a monthly reading group
craft - sewing, knitting, needlepoint, learning to crochet
Run - run 3 or 4 miles 3 times a week
Cinema plus also watch films from LoveFilm
Cooking - have friends over for dinner regularly and also bake and decorate cakes for freinds
That lot keeps me busyPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Have to agree am very rarely bored. I go to a choir once a week, a film group once a fortnight, cinema usually at least once a fortnight (have a monthly pass), I study with the OU, I'm writing a book, I read a lot, surf the net, have friends round for drinks/a meal/games nights, go for a walk usually with the camera, try and have at least one night a week spent with OH. So with working full time as well and housework etc I sometimes actually try and schedule in 'do nothing' time
I have to admit I don't really understand why some people constantly complain they are bored - if I had more spare time I could think of a load of things off the top of my head that I would like to try/get back into.0 -
I'm the same, I can always find something to do. I'm a huge reader and also love technology so I'm usually surfing the net, building computers or tinkering around with something which inevitably leads to me breaking it and then having to fix it.0
