Use your debit card to withdraw whatever you require at the time ( and have a second one as backup if possible). Do not let the Greek bank convert the conversion rate into £ for you (which is a question that may appear on the screen).

Travellers cheques (in £) will cost you money to convert into euro and euro travellers cheques are a waste of time and expensive to cash at banks.

Travelex Globe PP Mastercard is perfect. Money stays in £s until point of sale (so you have no problem with unused currency) + converts to what ever currency you need at Mastercard rate minus 1.49%.
