Compensation for no internet service?

My mum has been having problems with her broadband for the last 4 days it goes off at the same time every night and returns exactly 3 hours later, her provider are not being very helpful and only now starting to do an investigation as to why this is happening.
the only response she has had so far is - it's very strange, some people in Sheffield have had the same problem!
Now personally I think that she should be entitled to some sort of compensation/price reduction - she does crafty stuff and does most uploading and work around 9pm whilst dad is engrossed elsewhere so won't bother her! She has not been able to do this and is loosing what little money she was making from it.
Any suggestions on what could be done - if anything?
thanks

As a first point I'd do some troubleshooting to make sure the problem is not at her side.

If she knows she is going to lose what little money she can earn, upload at a different time of the day
and tell her OH to leave her alone while she is working.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

As she is running a business is her contract with her ISP a business one, if it is she may be entitled to something or is it a normal one in which case occasional loss of broadband which could be down to anything is hardly something she can claim compensation for as you are not supposed to use it for business use.0 -

I wonder if a neighbour is using a video sender, these can block the internet signals. Also if the adsl/ internet light is on it will be an issue your mums sideDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

For mission critical events, I keep a PAYG dongle handy. That way if my connection goes down, I have a fall back. Incidentally, 'compensation' is the wrong word - you won't get that, but ARE entitled to a bill credit for the period the service is acknowledged to be unavailable.0
