Hi All,

We have bought a house and moved in May 2011.
During June and July everything was fine. But from August onwards the
water pressure has dropped very badly if someone is taking a shower the tap in kitchen wont work or when washing machine is on the shower wont work and even during the normal times when everything is off the shower is very low pressure like dripping water very frustrated with this low pressure water.

So, my question is we are with Viola water so if we call them to complain will they send an engineer over to check this problem will they charge any call out charges to do this.

Or should we get a plumber to check the plumbing.

Any advice will be appreciated. We live in west London.

Phone them up water companies have to supply a minimum of 10m pressure (at 9 l/s) at the property boundary. There shouldnt be a charge.

You can check your stopc0ck is fully open (you may have an external in the street and internal one under the kitchen sink)

My understanding is that this will depend on the difference in height between the shower head and the bottom of the header tank in the loft. If you hold the shower head very near the ceiling the pressure tends to drop as the tank will probably be sitting on the rafters just above, if you lower it the pressure will increase slightly. Thats the reason I fitted a pump to supply my shower.

Methinks you may have a flow rate problem rather than a pressure problem.

Is your DHW at mains pressure (via combi boiler or unvented cylinder for example) or do you have tanks in the roof and a hot water cylinder in your airing cupboard?

    Is the shower electric?

Poster says bath with hand shower, I took this to mean the type of shower that runs of the bath taps.

You would be right but I was replying to the OP not to the post which has kinda hijacked the thread which is what you are referring to.
