BB, you sound totally normal to me. In fact, if you weren't apprehensive, it would be weird (and perhaps a little worrying).

My OH just says three little words to me when I get in a flap - We.Will.Cope.

    And so will you x

Asda Club - sign up in yours and your partners name so you can then print a voucher off each. You then go to Asda and get a Huggies starter pack. This contains a hat, a pack of nappies and a pack of wipes as well as £5 off Huggies products. Some people use the vouchers towards another pack, I saved mine until there was some offers in other stores.

Boots Parent Club - register online as being expectant and they will send you some vouchers. You will get 10 points per £1 instead of 4 on all baby items. The vouchers include the free changing bag when you buy pampers nappies, and then the rest vary, I got one for a free Avent bottle, Free mums essential toiletries set if spending £xx on Avent products. Then a few more like points on shampoo's etc. If you wait till Boots have a 342 on like they do at the moment you can combine deals and it works out much better! I got with mine the changing bag, a large pack of Pampers nappies, a body suit, the mums essentials kit, an Avent bottle and 2 Avent teats and it cost me approx £5.

Sainsbury's also do a baby club how ever it's not amazing, just a few small samples, a travel changing mat and a pack of Huggies wipes. You do have to buy a pack of Huggies nappies. You register for this online.

You can also sign up to the Huggies club online, they regularly do vouchers which you can print out to use towards nappies/wipes/little swimmers. They change regularly so there is always something different.

You can download and print out the Argos vouchers on the Emmas Diary website http://www.emmasdiary.co.uk/voucher.aspx?type=1 tbh though they aren't much cop.

  • Thank you SaliMali for pushing us down the list. We thought we were too far up to have any newbies come along, but yay, it delays the inevitable...

And eek, we're 34 weeks now. Eek Eek Eek!!! Where have the past 34 weeks gone???

PS We had fun on the sofa yesterday evening, DW had a strop because everything hurt, she couldn't move, she refused to do anything and just moaned.... To think that we might have another 8 weeks of this...

And on brighter news, someone in our NCT antenatal classes is giving birth 5 weeks early, this weekend.

  • Morning all!
Hugs to those to had a carpy nits sleep, hope you manage to have a restful day.
BB I think many of us, especially who's first baby it is will share similar feelings. From what people tell me maternal instinct will kick in. A lot of being a mum seems to be common sense really. Remember women have been having babies for thousands of years, long before parent classes etc and the human race has survived and evolved. Some days I don't feel like I'm excited at all, people also say things like "you must be so excited la la la" and some days nope I don't feel it at all and I feel very guilty. But would never admit to these people that I may not. This is a life changing event and nerves are going be there. You're not the first person to have worries. I'm sure when bubba gets here, you'll just get on with it and settle with your own routine. Well meaning people like to tell me how I should bring up my boy when he gets here. So try not to let other's opinion worry you or add to your stresses. Anyway the gist of my rambles was that you're not alone in these feelings. Don't let anyone tell you other wise. It's hard to share feelings in real life that's why we are all here to support each other.
MrP I think Asda I printed off the coupons. Boots post them, you can join online or I think by a form in instore took a few weeks I think for things to appear. The bag is ok, but a lot of people say its too small to be practical. Anything that's free I joined!! Also Tesco gave loads of vouchers.
The bounty vouchers I thought I saw on their website? But there was nothing of interest at the time as they were mainly spending biggish amounts on things we already had so I didn't print them.
Few bits to do this morning before we leave. Whilst writing this post my (playful) OH has wanted to put his pants in my head, trial his electric razor on me and this now has upset me....asked did I have his nail clippers, nope I haven't seen them. Quote of the day "well you know me I'm too @nal and I would have put them back on my bedside table." still haven't seen them. "did you pack them?" yeah I packed some from the bathroom, of course thinking they were mine as they were in the bathroom. Anyway seems he's not as @nally tidy as he thinks is he? Stupid man......:( he'd better buy me a cake later ;)
Rant over.....hope everyone has a good day. Will try and check in whilst away especially as it sounds like (hopefully) should be some bubba news. MissMoney crack on girl!! That LO is way too comfy in there ;)
    Bye for now xxx

Big ((hugs)) BB. I'm sure every first time mum to be goes through all the things you have described and I bet all the works you've been having done have probably exacerbated those feelings.

Have a nice trip away LMM.

Well I waddled down to the sorting office and back, took me about 40 mins and I'm pooped now! :o It was my birthing ball, so I am now sitting on it as I type :) Also just as I got back the postman arrived with my books from amazon and also my box of clothes from the lovely Gilly! :D I feel like a kid at Christmas :D

    Morning all (just!).

Well despite being told to do nothing by the docs, OH and I spent the weekend doing a ton of housework - if I had sat around doing nothing I think the stress of everything not being ready would have been worse than getting it done. I now feel a sense of achievement, and feel much much calmer knowing the baby actually has somewhere to sleep now, and our hallways are no longer obstacle courses made of boxes/furniture!!

BB I could have pretty much written your post myself. As fluffnutter's OH has said, and mine keeps saying to me....we will cope!!

I officially have 9 days until my due date. Single figures. How did that happen?????

Hospital at 2 today for a growth scan (due to BP meds, although my own online research shows such a low dose and so late in preg won't have an effect - but I suppose they have to check these things), and possibly a sweep (if I decide to consent)... will be my first internal examination since getting preg, have had tons of really strong (but irregular) BH and sharp pains up there all weekend, so I'm hoping they'll tell me things are on the move!!

Miss money you'd best hurry up or I might overtake you at this rate hehe

Oh, had a letter from hospital today saying I have "mixed growth" in my last urine sample (taken at the hosp as I showed +1 protein, ketone and blood in the dip test) - anybody has this?? A quick google shows contamination to be the most likely cause, and I'm thinking as OH and I had been fruity the night before, and I had to pee in the minging hospital loo, that it could just be those that caused it??

Welcome to all the newbies, it feels like only last week I was one of you, it flies by!!!

BB - I just wanted to let you know I could have written much of your post myself. Some days I have what I call 'wobble days' - other days I go almost too far in the other direction! Much of my worries come from 'will I be good enough?' and 'what on earth I am going to do with a tiny helpless newborn baby' But with my DH's support (who is annoyingly much more confident than I am) I know we will get through those scary first few days - and like others have said, we will cope!

    Much love xxx
