Their seems to be an increasing number of people on facebook setting up fake profiles and emails to claim your hard earned prizes.
There have been a further 2 this morning... Please tag your friends in their wins so they can claim as soon as possible.
If you see someone claiming who you know isn't the person who won ...report it
search on a regular basis for your own wins

search "congratulations and your name"
or "winner + your name)
also do a regular google search
Hopefully by being vigilant we can stem this before it gets to out of hand
Sorry if this is a dupe...
This is simply a warning post to alert people that may not be aware...i do not want this post to be a thread where people start pointing the finger of accusation at others ...thanks but if you can post good ideas on how to stop yourself becoming a victim that would be useful. thanks

I'd of thought that by now they could link your email to your facebook? make you enter with the email linked to facebook. does that make sense, then they could double check it was the correct winner.
I don't enter many on facebook as i never know how to see if i am a winner, but a couple that i have won have either messaged me direct (through fb) or tagged me in a post, would have thought these would be the easiest ways to eradicate "imposters"!

it would if promoters used apps that require emails, sadly lots of comps are still run against facebook promotion guidelines and do not use apps, simply they are using share this pic or like this status..Thank you to all the posters and the forum guides for all your hard work it is appreciated ...

The problem is that most promoters run competitions on their Facebook walls rather than asking us to email or complete a form. They can only have access to our email addresses if they use an App (ie. a separate Tab on the left hand menu of their page) - Facebook rules state that promoters MUST use an App and can ONLY inform winners via email - they can't use wall posts or private messages.
Unfortunately promoters don't think about the issues with contacting people if they've done a Comment/Like/Share competition. They only have two methods - a message (which will go into the 'Other' inbox, in many cases never to be found) or a public wall announcement, asking the winner to get in touch. This is where the cheats take advantage! Promoters can only tag your name in a thread that you have commented on, so that's no solution in most cases.
As well as being vigilant and helping out each other, more importantly we need to make promoters aware that Facebook wall competitions aren't fair. Indeed, for a Share comp last week I noticed that one comper had shared the comp more than FIFTY times on her own wall (of course, she wasn't worried about spamming friends because this was her second account, with very few friends!) to ensure her name appeared under the most recent Shares when the company looked. Not exactly playing fair!
I intend to blog about this soon at https://www.superlucky.co.uk & https://www.theprizefinder.com and will post here when it's done!0 -
Can't believe some folks will go so low, creating fake profiles to claim other peoples prizes. Though I would think they could get into a lot of trouble for impersonating someone else and obtaining goods through deception.0

Thats awful that people could do that
what scumbags!
I wish the companies would tag the person who has won and then they wouldn't miss it x:starmod: May all your wishes come true! :starmod:0 -
This actually gives me the creeps
Think I read somewhere that someone on here did a similar thing recently, not that I've seen it myself.

I think companies make it far too easy for other people to claim someone's prize. I've often seen on facebook a winner announced and told to email to claim their prize. The whole of facebook can see that and could email claiming to be them! It's awful, the people that do it, and the fact the companies make it so easy to do so.0

Thanks for the informaion.
I have just used your search link for winners of competitions on Facebook and found two that I had won and missed!:(
Bookmarked to check frequently x
Thank you0 -
That is awful! Thanks for letting us know.
Can't actually believe people would stoop that low!0 -
I've seen so many with 'so and so' email us... I mean anyone could email and say it as them! Thankfully, I know a lot do also send a private message, which they should do. I think it is disgusting that people would do it... it's stealing!December Wins: £300 worth of board games, £500 Tesco Vouchers Best Win in 2023: £500 Tesco Vouchers0
