discount courier websites any good?

Options
hello,

I need to send a large parcel (approx 10kg).

I have seen websites such as parcelmonkey and parcelsave that quote less than if I went direct to a courier such as parcelforce or tnt.

How do they do this? Are they reliable?

thanks.

Most are reasonably reliable, the way they are cheaper than direct is bulk purchase, they book say 100 000 parcels per year whereas you book one on a one off, I'd recommend trying https://www.interparcel.com, https://www.parcel2go.com, https://www.parcelmonkey.co.uk or https://www.gwizzcouriers.co.uk, or if you're still uncomfortable going through a broker, there are some cheap direct deals out there too, for instance https://www.ipostparcels.com is direct, as are https://www.myhermes.co.uk, https://www.interlinkdirect.co.uk and https://www.collectplus.co.uk
  • Been using Parcelmonkey for over 2 years to book City Link for UK domestic and DHL for European. They had issues early on which were down to their shoddy computer system but those problems have since gone after they had a large upgrade in June. I've not had a missed collection for anything since then. Prior to the upgrade, May was really bad.

I send dozens of laptops a month through them.

As above, but you can use Parcelforce via Paypal, it's possibly a bit higher than some of those but cheaper than the Parcelforce site quotes for a one off parcel.

I've just sent a laptop off to Greece with Parcelforce booked through Parcel Monkey. 6kg 48x48x10cm box with £200 compensation. £30.32 which was half the price of DHL booked through the same. It'll take about 5 working days to get there but the service used has full tracking unlike virtually every parcelforce intl. service you can get at the post office.

Just to mention don't forget you can get approx. £3.00 cash back via TCB for each parcel you book via Parcel Force and there is usually a 15% off code you can use in conjunction. So it may be worth looking to calculate prices direct with Parcel Force.

I can certainly recommend parcelmonkey (via quidco) which I've used for fully traceable UK domestic next day deliveries using CityLink. I've always found their drivers polite

What are people's opinions on Shiply?
  • Ive used Parcel2go loads of time for stuff to France and had no problems. Pay by Paypal too.

It seems that problems come when there is loss or damage and the resellers blame the carrier and vice versa. The poor sender is left in limbo with both washing their hands of it.
