    I'd either ignore him, or reply with something along the lines of:

    Dear <buyer's name>

    Thank you very much for your email.

    As you collected <item> on <date> yourself and thoroughly inspected it before paying, I shall not be issuing a refund, as the item was not cracked when you collected it, so the damage has occurred whilst in your possession.

    The above has been re-iterated by Ebay, who have assessed the dispute you opened, and found in my favour.

    Kind Regards,

    <you>

    No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    Private Sale - buyer beware.

    He has no real legal rights, he inspected the goods and paid.

    I highly doubt he'll go to court!
    Not strictly true - SOGA maintains that items from private sellers must be as described. He probably won't bother, though, but just to make sure people are aware buyers do have rights when they buy from private sellers. It's a very foolish seller who just says "buyer beware" and tries to wash their hands in all situations, even though this situation is fairly clear cut.

    If eBay have ruled in your favour, OP, there is not much more they can really do.
