One of these shops has recently open very near my home and I was thinking of asking them for a quote for a new kitchen.
Any experiences with them?
Thanks!

Hi Alisha2008
Do you mean this company?
Do you want a new kitchen or is it just new doors and worktop you were thinking of?
To be honest most kitchen experts would agree that just changing the doors is not a good idea in a kitchen as its the carcasses, hinges and drawer boxes that wear out, not the doors.
Unless your existing kitchen is only a couple of years old then I would compare just changing the doors to having a 10 year old car with all sorts of small issues like an small oil leak hear and there, the odd rattle and then thinking getting it completely resprayed is the answer.
Good luck

I want a new kitchen, they do "kitchen facelifts" but also new kitchens from scratch. ( I need new floor, tiles, higher & bigger cupboards..)0

Do you want someone to manage the whole project, or are you happy to arrange a kitchen fitter, tiler etc all yourself (or do some DIY)?0
-
I need someone to manage the project, both my partner and me work full time and don't have much free time... I've looked into IKEA kitchens, as I like the designs and the price, but the fact that I need to hire someone else to do all the work, buy the worktop separately.. feels a bit too much hassle, so I'm looking at alternatives.0

Hi Again
I would suggest looking at some local independent kitchen specialists to you. They would be able to do the complete job and should also be good value.
Good luck

I have looked closely into what Dream Doors do and they do new kitchens as well as facelifts. In either case, they use doors that they buy in through their franchise system and source carcases elsewhere.
What you are effectively getting is a component kitchen and like CKDesigner, I would strongly recommend talking to a local independent kitchen specialist. You should get good advise and choice for your new kitchen. We’ve had to remove your signature. and my opinion makes 3!
talk to local fitters\shops. Many fitters supply and fit - especially howden or wickes stuff which isnt bad at all. As for references or ask friends for local reccomendations based on their work0 -

If you live in South Yorkshire/Derbyshire do not whatever you do use the Dream Doors Sheffield West. I am having an extremely bad experience with them.0 -

I am aware of someone having a bad experience with them in - I will not mention the branch- Gloucestershire.
I am not aware of Dream Doors business model - it is not relevant to me. It appears to me it is a franchise operation where anyone with the money can set up regardless of their knowledge, or lack of knowledge, of kitchens.
Why anyone would use them just to replace kitchen doors is bizarre. Doors and worktops are readily available so why pay inflated prices at national, high profile, franchise operations?0 -
Door replacements have always confused me.
The serviceable life of a kitchen is to a great extent determined by condition of carcases and wear of hinges/runners.
With a kitchen facelift, the layout is very rarely improved, limiting the number and type of space efficient storage. The bits that can be upgraded like installations of drawers cost the same money irrespective of a new kitchen or facelift. Doors/drawer fronts cost the same. Worktops cost the same. So do new appliances.
I see facelifts as a pretty pointless waste of money. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
