Would you let your child have a day off school to see you graduate?

I do think the head should allow the day off-If he doesn't it says more about his attitude to education than anything else-and I'd just take the day unauthorized .

Yes, and yes again, I will go against the grain a little and say take your son too! When I graduated I took 3 0f my children plus my mum and husband!
It was no bother to get extra tickets, and other students had babies and toddlers with them. Depending on where they are sitting, your mum could take him out of the hall for a short while.
I think it's a great achievement to share with your family.
Well done.

without a doubt! You are an aspiration for her to look up to... hard work, late nights all amount to your big day. I am sure school would also agree.
Congrats!0 -
My sister took both her kids to her graduation last year - they were 7 and 9. School didn't have a problem with it and they both had books with them to read if they got bored during the ceremony.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I wouldn't, it'd be more like punishment for a 6 year old!0 -

What being made to sit on Nan's lap
Yes it probably would be and besides my Mum isn't that sort of Nan anyway!
She would probably get quite annoyed with him if he kept speaking and fidgeting
I think I will take him out for dinner when we get home, he will love that£608.98

Having been to a few graduations now, its more that he'd have to sit still and quiet for aaaaages for the sake of the 15 seconds you're on the stage.
You don't even get to clap and cheer for mummy when she's on the stage, you normally have to wait and clap for a small group so as to avoid disruption and keep things going smoothly. Just not worth it at 6!
I think you've got the right idea by including him in the celebrations but not the actual ceremony.0 -
im going against the grain here and i wouldnt take my kids out of school for my graduation.
i know its "just 1 day" but to me school is more important. taking your child out of school to see you graduate school is kind of wrong imo.0 -
Having three sons I think he will be better off at school. My three can't bare to be bored it's the worst punishment ever to them. I would do as others have said and fib that it is strictly for over tens due to the fact that it is too long and boring for young children. He won't want to go then if it he's going to be bored.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
