Family friendly hotels in Devon

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie and pretty unsure of forum etiquette so please let me know if I am posting in the wrong place etc!
We have decided to stay in the UK for our holiday this year and are thinking of going to Devon. If anyone can recommend a mid range priced family friendly hotel (a pool would be a bonus!) close to the beach I would be grateful,
Many thanks

Hi does it have to be a hotel, are you interested in a caravan. Hoburne Torbay paignton is ideally located and has an indoor and outdoor pool. http://tidd.ly/6776ddab.
I tend to use Pure Holiday Homes http://tidd.ly/324d6067 as they seem to have the most interesting homes like the ones in the link which are in Devon with a pool.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
Ideally we would prefer a hotel as my parents are joining us for a few days. Also when I have looked before caravans (decent ones) tend to cost around £900 for a week in August... A hotel wouldn't be that much and you would get breakfast thrown in,

hum - i am not sure you really will get a hotel that charges much less than £900 for 7 nights for a family of 3 or 4?? a family room in a hotel is usually about £85 at minimum (except chains like travelodge, premier inn etc) and for a good one it is more usual to pay £100 - 120 for a family room...
unless you mean a bed and breakfast guest house - which is less likely perhaps to have a pool...
also if you are staying in a hotel for a week you need to factor in the cost of eating all meals out.....plus no space for kids to play or for you to sit and relax when kids have gone to bed...
if you don't fancy a caravan - and they are ok these days - what about a wooden lodge somewhere? or a holiday cottage for a week next to a beach?
anyway i know you asked for a hotel - this hotel is family friendly but expensive..

What budget are you thinking of ? and how many do you need the hotel room to sleep?

Yes agree with all the below. In Paignton you could get a family room for between £550 and £900 but unlikley to have a pool or much space.
Do you definitley need a pool? as the beach is only a few yards away from somewhere like http://www.aquamarineguesthouse.co.uk/ excellent friendly hosts.hum - i am not sure you really will get a hotel that charges much less than £900 for 7 nights for a family of 3 or 4?? a family room in a hotel is usually about £85 at minimum (except chains like travelodge, premier inn etc) and for a good one it is more usual to pay £100 - 120 for a family room...

Thanks for the reply. We actually only want 5 nights accomodation (Monday to Saturday) and most self catering accomodation, I think, starts and ends their rental periods on a Friday or Saturday so we would be paying for a week but not staying for 2 of the nights. Our budget is £500 for 5 nights and there are 4 of us, plus my parents (seperate budget!). A pool isn't a must, especially as you say if the beach is close by, it just would have been nice
I hope you don't think I was being snobby about caravans, we have stayed in many over the years but always try and opt for the Gold ones as the bronze etc allow dogs and tend to be a bit scruffier and worn...0 -

Just looked at the Aquamarine guesthouse which looks lovely, perfectly positioned to but then noticed they won't accept children under the age of 10 years which is no good for me sadly :0(0 -
Hi, Have you looked at Manor House Hotel Okehampton, two pools and water slides, fun house and indoor playareas, as well as lots of other activities.About 1/2 from Bude.Children pay a percentage of the rate according to their age if sharing with parents.Depends when you want to go, its more expensive in School holidays.0
