I would also say look for vouchers for 2 for 1 meals, BOGOF meals etc. Most restaurants are struggling nowadays so there are lots of deals. Not just chain restaurants either a lot of independent restaurants and pubs that do meals are offering cheap deals where I live.
Restaurants that do a buffet - quite a lot of Chinese and Indian restaurants do them are reasonable price.
Do you belong to Groupon and other sites like it? I have got cinema tickets a couple of times from them costing £7 for 2 tickets and no restrictions on which days or times they can be used. Also Groupon and other sites (can't remember any of their names at the moment but I belong to a few) also have deals for restaurants. I know they get a bad name but I have bought quite a few deals from them and had no problems whatsoever
If you have a Cineworld near you and you enjoy going to the cinema they do a card which allows you to go as often as you like which costs so much a month. Not sure of the cost but it was £10.99 not that long ago and considering a ticket in the evening is £7 it is a real bargain. When I and OH both had a card we used to go loads of times - one week we went 6 times!
I never buy food to eat in the cinema - I go to watch the film not eat so that is one expense you really do not need. In fact The National Film Theatre on the South Bank never allowed any food to be taken into the cinema (not sure if that is still the case).
Bowling can be quite cheap depending what time and day you go, but for instance a Monday reasonably early evening is quite cheap. The food in my local bowling place is pretty cheap too although pretty basic i.e. burgers (their veggie burger is actually very nice).
Coffee shops are a rip off in my opinion but if you have a Pret near you they do covve for 99p and I think it is much nicer than Starbucks' coffee.
If you are not a good cook you could get the M&S dine in deal or one of the supermarket similar deals or maybe just cook a very simple meal which I am sure would be appreciated.
Are all your dates in the evening? If they are in the afternoon are there are museums, art galleries near you? Of course you may not like things like that but mostly they are free even in London.
I do agree that walks at this time of year are not the best of ideas but if you both like walking and wrap up well you could go for a walk then go to a coffee shop or tea room and have a warming drink. The last few days where I live have been very frosty but sunny and I love walking my dog in weather like that.
Have a look in your local paper or online to see if there are any events that are cheap or maybe even free.
Oh and I have just thought about the free cinema tickets. I belong to See Film First and they send emails about free film viewings but there is a thread on the Freebies section of the board where people tell what films are coming up.The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0
