which way to go

We are thinking of replacing old tv in dining room and also getting a lap top; we also have sky for main tv only; if we go this way we would leave sky and use a package with free view . Our broadband is with bt . I have notion to replace the dining rom tv with apple imac and stream tv as we dont use it alot; our son is in australia so would be easier to skype and also to use iplayer. thus leaving the old pc for my husband, he has a sight problem it would be easier for him. any thoughts please

Extensive use of iPlayer will greatly increase your data use - does your broadband package have enough?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

What, exactly, do you mean by "free view"?

Do you mean "freeview"? You'll need an aerial and freeview receiver or TV with built-in freeview.

Do you mean FreeSatFromSky? You need do nothing except cancel your subscription.

Do you mean "Freesat"? You'll need a Freesat satellite TV receiver connected to your LNB on the dish.
