1. It is not a fine. A private company cannot fine you.
2. You have not broken the law.
3. Ignore them.
4. They very occasionally take people to court, but it doesn't happen very often.
Beware of private messages from members who have a low post count as the tea boy at UKCPS (Hello Mr. Hasbeen:D) has been known to contact people to give "advice" or solicit information from you."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

You are not breaking any laws at all, they could in theory take you to the small claims court , but you have more chance of winning the lotto jackpot than that happening.
So lets examine what exactly happened here, you have parked in a free car park, you have parked outside an advisory only parking bay, so the invoice (not fine!) is for circa £70 I guess, reduced to maybe £40 for early payment ?? So do you think that is punishment and a penalty for doing so ? Of course it is! And a private parking company cannot penalise you in a such fashion, and if it ever went to court the small claims court will agree I am sure.
So what to do? Well ignore completely, unless signed and stamped court papers arrive through your box, and please don't go into further details as Peter Haswell their office lackey trolls forums looking for people he can victimise, his speciality are disabled drivers who's badge has slipped off the dashboard.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Whilst court action is very very rare (less than 0.1% of all tickets issued nationwide), the 'outside the bay markings' argument is particularly weak and I've never ever seen such a case go to small claims court.0

Thank you for the kind advice, just scary though have never had anything like this before ever0

Join the "I'm ignoring fake parking tickets" club, and tell your friends/family/work colleagues to do the same if they are ever issued with a piece of loo-roll pretending to be a parking ticket.0

To answer your question, though the [STRIKE]fine[/STRIKE] invoice I got (as a registered keeper) was from CP Plus, so UKCPS could be different, was a week after the alleged offence occured (parking more than 2 hours at a motorway services).
After ignoring for about a month or so, from the 3rd letter, I heard from them no more.0
