my daughter is the same and she is one - and usually its just a case of hoi you leave my washing machine alone and distract her away from it.. you could always get your kid a toy one...a special one for her to play with0

Honestly, a 1 year old shouldn't really be left unattended in the kitchen/utility, so I'm not sure what harm you think she's going to come to? Tell her "no" and remove her when she opens it, and she will soon understand that she's not to play with it. I never had any "safety devices" (fridge lock, cupboard locks etc) in the kitchen, as the children were never left in there unattended. I did have a stairgate on the kitchen door, so that they couldn't wander in there when I went to the loo etc.
I've never heard of a washing machine lock, although one may well exist. All washing machines that I know automatically lock the door when they fill with water, so I'm not sure exactly what you are worried she will do?0
