Is this just showing the demise of the part of the economy which was based solely on shopping. it had to end at sometime the shopping bubble has burst.

Nobody has any money to spend on tat. They are all spending it paying the rent and putting food on the table. House prices and landlords yields must be protected at all costs, even if it means mass unemployment, retail failures and nobody having any money to spend.

What a shame I feel for those losing their job but Past Times really did cater to a specific market I think. I've only been in a few times over the years and nothing really in there I wanted. Pretty to look at, not a lot of use type stuff.

Their admim HQ and distribution centre is at Nantgarw just north of Cardiff. They employ a lot of Welsh people there, especially from the Valleys as it's between the valleys and the city .... but once you go inside the building the signage is in English/Polish and not the usual English/Welsh you see everywhere else.

Peococks have really improved last 5years inprived their stores,range and offering good value for money.

They actually turning profits.

Their regular (non-sale) prices seemed to be a lot more expensive than their competitors (Primark, George, Tesco).

Chav end of the market ..... bye, bye ...... council house tenants have lost another low end shop - but it was tat!!

At the rate we are going we may drag the chavs into buying decent stuff ....... could be a good end result. Pull the dregs living off benefits up in standards!
