Orange Giving Information To 3rd Parties - Can I Cancel?

I have 3 mobile phone contracts with Orange. I've never added any other users to the account or in any way authorised people to speak to customer services on my behalf.

A few months back, someone was able to get my upgrade date out of Orange. They did this by phoning from one of my handsets and without answering any security questions, were able to find out the upgrade dates of my other contracts.

Today, I logged into check my bill and my tariff has been raised from a £25 to £31 plan. This is not as a result of any best plan type things. Under the "give access to your account" section, there's now a name there with Read access (which shouldn't be enough to raise the tariff). I didn't add them, or authorise them in anyway - but I know who it was and they claim to have not had to answer any security questions whatsoever.

I'm not happy about this, so how should I approach Orange about this unauthorised access? I'd ideally like to just get a PAC code and go somewhere else.

Anyone else ever had a similar issue? For instance, perhaps someone has taken a contract out on behalf of a child and had the child able to raise credit limits without proof of identity? That's not what's happened here, but would be a similar situation.

If I were you I wouldn't believe a word this person says.

Perhaps so, but this person is foreign and female and I'm not. I intentionally pick obscure and/or false information in my security questions and passwords so that people can't guess the answers. They didn't manage to steal my identity, Orange simply screwed up.

The need to do a security check is drummed into the frontline staff on an almost daily basis. Plus, they have team leaders randomly listening to call as they happen, anyone not compiling with the DPA would find themselves in very deep doo doo very quickly. . .

get them to listen to the call, and why has your staff member changed your contract more to the point.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

You mean did I accidentally raise the tariff myself? No, someone else did without my permission. I haven't spoken to Orange in months.

It was done from your phone. Unless your phone was stolen, you're going to have a long expensive battle ahead.

If it were that simply they wouldn't ask you security questions and the password every time you call them even with some minor questions about your account.

Do you ever call 07973 100 150 from your landline unless you have your phone lost/stolen?

Of course I'm not happy with them, but my contract is with Orange and it's due to their negligence that someone has tampered with my account.

I reported the matter to Orange Customer Services yesterday but still not heard anything.
