Can I find out if anyone has plans to upgrade/enable my exchange?

I am 6 miles from edinburgh but seemingly stuck on a BT only exchange (longniddry - ESLON)
When I check on sam knows it states that nothing other than bt is available and nothing including any of the new BT products are even planned.
Is this accurate?

It is accurate.
For postcodes beginning EH32, and as of December, only the following appear to be in the plan for fibre to the cabinet:
EH32 9RU
EH32 9RX
EH32 9RS

On an exchange with less than 1,300 subscribers, it's unlikely that it will ever have any LLU services-no one could recoup the investment with such a small potential customer base.
PS: at least not with the current ADSL technology. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The above makes sense, except in the Talk Talk world, where some really small exchanges have been LLU'd with much larger ones missed.
Scotland have had their BDUK funding awarded, so it's worth talking to your local councillors (see if there's a page abour broadband on their site) to make sure that you register your area as being one which desires upgrades.
That might be fibre, might be Wi-Fi; ADL2+ LLU is only really any use on short phone lines which are already 4Mbps+ capable, otherwise it might increase your upstream fractionally, or achieve little or nothing.
Have you got access to a good 3G service? Ours (from 3) is capable of 11Mbps down and 2Mbps up at this address and that's what we use.0 -
Thanks for replying.
Pretty rubbish then! I get 8124 connection so prettty good ADSL max, but would love ADSL2 etc.
There are no 3G signals here and only Vodafone provides a reliable voice service.0
