If you ring any of the numbers for a store you get through to a scottish call centre who answer as that store but eventually admit they are a call centre. They say their computer is showing that item in stock at that store but we all know that what the computer says and what the actual position is can be two different things.
No amount of pleading would persuade them to either put me through to the store or for them to contact the store to find out the true position. To visit the store would cost me quite a bit in petrol and parking so I wanted to make sure it was in stock. I was told the stores do not deal directly with the public!!!
Does anyone know any email addresses for John Lewis other than the stock page on their website please?
And what has any of this got to do with the thread title of them being too posh?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

Their original response that they did not ALLOW customers to speak directly to stores.0 -

So what? Their business model uses a call centre, rather than having shop staff endlessly answer phone calls. That's because it's cheaper.
If you think it's because they don't want their 'posh' staff members speaking to the 'oiks' (customers), then you've got some weird chip on your shoulder"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Not to mention that it avoids annoying customers who have taken the trouble to turn up at the emporium by ignoring them whilst answering phone calls from possible customers who haven't.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

You cant call aldi stores direct so are they classed as too posh0 -
here we go again...I ask the simple question if anyone has a contact email address and I get the sarcastic and totally unhelpful comments.
You dont know the full facts about the situation and it would have been too long a thread to put on here. As I said to another poster, if you haven't got anything constructive or helpful to say then why bother saying anything?
Try getting a life, you never know you might lose the chip that's on your shoulder, cos I certainly haven't got one on mine. I just want decent service.0 -
Don't be rude to the nice people who might try to help you. It puts them off. If you ask advice of strangers, you must expect a little ribbing or difference of opinion. Jeez, no one's even been that unpleasant. Some of us are really mean."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Excuse me but where exactly were some of the comments helpful? Did they reply saying "why don't you try emailing xxxx" or similar?
If one asks a straightfoward question or for a particular piece of advice why should that poster have to put up with rudeness, or as you put it, ribbing.
My original post did not ask for opinions, it asked for advice which sadly has not been forthcoming.
And before I get the usual replies to this post I have noticed other people making the same complaints on these forums. It seems to me that there are certain people who revel in being rude, unhelpful, call it what you will.
Now that's my ribbing and difference of opinion!!!0
