Advice on telling Dr's about overdose
Comments

He has been treated by the same Dr for severe clinical depression in the past, twice in fact and they have always taken him seriously and he has got better. How ever he seems different this time as though he is on the edge of the spiral, rather than alreday being out of control if that makes sense. I want him to see a Dr now sooner rather than later but he doesn't think they will take him seriousle as he isn't as bad as he has been in the past. Which is why I think he should mention the tablets. He was never admitted either time to hospital, however he was very sleepy and drowsy the first time round.
I know the info is scant I don't really know what to put that is relevant.
The last two times he has had this he was signed of work for 6 + months each time.0 -

Don't shoot me but is taking 2 tablets and 6 tablets classed as an overdose?
Personally, and I am talking as a person who lost her mum (who was a pharmacist and knew exactly what stuff to take) to suicide, this person needs help. Most people that mean to commit suicide, plan it out and ensure it is well thought out so it is possibly a cry for help but I wouldn't want his kids having to go through what I went through..... however, only his wife and him can do something about it in my view. Surely they owe that much to their children....0 -
I agree with you only me, that was the second time which I beleive was a cry for help, the first time it was a lot worse. They were super strength pain killers though.
I know where you are coming from but at the same time, a friend of mines mother died from accicdental overdose who was also funnily enough a pharmacist, so it can happen.
It just seems that you are playing a game of roulette by ignoring it, serious or a cry for help, it can only end in disaster if left to carry on?0 -

10 tablets is enough to cause permanent liver damage from paracetamol toxicity, even without immediate symptoms, although it is at the very low end of the range for damage. This means it is very unlikely to cause damage but can do, especially if combined with a liver that has been previously damaged or with metabolic issues.
Paracetamol poisoning is a nasty way to go, usually those taking an overdose do not kill themselves but instead have kidney/liver failure. This can happen even if you feel fine after taking the overdose and is often not immediate but happens within 3 days. OP please don't take paracetamol again as a cry for help - this could seriously backfire.
OP, SS will only take your children if they feel they are in danger. Your GP will only call SS if they feel your children could be in danger. Many depressed parents, even those with a history of suicide attempts keep their children. Please get the help you need and call Samaritans or a friend if you feel the urge to attempt to take your life again.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0
