OS Daily Monday 16th January 2012

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 16th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Just been scrolling back to find the pic of Eliza. Julie she is totally gorgeous - OOOOOOHHHHH BROOOOOOOOOOOODY. Hope shes a good girl for you. xx

Morning all!! Chaotic day yesterday looking at houses in the Mansfield area. Every one we looked at either I liked or OH liked. Due to see one at about 2 yesterday but seller wasn't there, so took a chance and popped up about 4. Lucky us - house was a rough diamond. Does need some work but is wonderful. Did have to come home to a chaotic house last night though :( !!

So today I have a bombsite to turn back into a house, boys to take to school and estate agents to talk to! Dinner tonight will be something simple from the freezer as I really need to lose some weight.

Hugs to anyone who needs them xxx

Morning all, cold with a bit of ice on the car but not so bad today. Dog walked , breakfast eaten and then off to school for me. Still no more news of my Mum. My brother who is her carer seems to be at the hospital all the time and as he doesn't have a mobile or even an answering service on his home phone, no-one is able to get hold of him.will try to e-mail him in a minute.
JackieO Wish I could come to knitting club with you, they are 2 of my favourite things too. Looking forward to retiring in a few years and doing more of both:j
Hugs to all those who need them. Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning everyone ((hugs)).
OH has left for work with a humongous hunk of carrot cake and I am in bed with coffee doing a bit of revision, before I get up and have breakfast. Once again, lots of revision to do today, hopefully it will all pay off. It's gone really cold the last few days, but forecast to warm up in a few days? Who knows?! So unpredictable, temperatures are fluctuating by over 10C one day to the next!

  • emsf she's as good as gold. Such a happy, peaceful and content baby :)

Monagran I am spend every second I can with her :)

Yesterday I managed a 45 minute walk... I felt so normal again :)

The midwives were taken with her, and said I was a natural :D

Last night Oma (my mum) inundated us with pink stuff... there must be 20 outfits! DH washed a load, so DS could pick her an outfit for today... he wants to show her off at school today.

    Eliza slept 12 - 5.30am so I am a happy mummy today :)

Today Eliza gets weighed, and the visitors start. I'm planning on walking the afternoon school run. DH will help me make cottage pie for dinner (right back into OS for us).

Thank you everyone for your kind words and well wishes... I'm glad you are all as smitten as we are :)

    Morning :hello:

After much drama yesterday, master tru's girlfriend is gone for good :j

I have a blind at the kitchen window, we've put a curtain rail up but no curtains. I've spent weeks debating how big they should be - full width so I can close them, or narrow so the window looks 'finished' but they can't be closed. The window isn't very wide so if they're full curtains, they'll block half the light coming in even when they're open. Decisions decisions :D I'm making the curtains and either way, they'll be tab-top. I suppose I could make them full width and if it doesn't look right, just cut one of them in half and hem the sides? I need someone to decide for me............

It's monday, so write-weekly-jobs-list day. There's already a few things on it, I'm going to be busy this week :D

I'm going to write a stockpile list. I'm not convinced mr tru's job is safe, so I want to have lots on stand-by. I started buying a bit extra a couple of weeks ago, I need to clear some cupboard space before I buy any more. I certainly won't be doing it armegeddon-stylee though, that's just ridiculous :p

Miffy, I'm sure you've already thought of this, but have you tried calling the hospital for an update? Maybe mid-morning, when the Drs have done the rounds?

Do you "need" them to close if you have a blind? If not, then I would go for decorative ones to finish the window, and allow the light to get in. Tab tops don't always look good when they're very full IMHO.

    Morning all!
JG Congrats, haven't been on for a few days!:T

Went to Dorset yesterday to see MIL, as we missed her birthday because of the Norovirus. Loved seeing her, she's 91 now and still as bright as a button. Stepson and DIl were there too with DGD2. Trouble was they have a dog. A border collie that stinks, and is HUGE! Why they brought it I don't know. It spent most of the day in the garden barking, then when it came in it leapt on MIL and nearly flattened her. OH was furious, and pulled it off. Then it jumped up at me, and ripped a huge wound in my left arm with it's claws (I have very thin skin, and just a knock can be bad) so very sore today.:o

Anyway, back home now. Spending today in the warm once I've posted the last of my Ebay parcels.

    Whoopsie hotpot for dinner.

    Have a good day all!

    Morning everyone,

I am at work and it is really cold, it appears that the heating isn't working, I will be teaching in my coat this morning!

Tonight is really busy, DD2 has netball (as usual) and I have a meeting till late, I have left the children a pasta dish to reheat but have no idea what OH and I will be having.

Manged to break the lock on the front door this weekend, we eventually manged to get back in but then I had to call a locksmith as we couldn't get out again! That wasn't cheap.

Hugs to all in need especially Lou, LW, Uolypool, Molly and Beth.

    Big cuddles for Eliza.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
