Your gonna get some compliments with one of those bad boys in your kitchen lol.

A CDA appliance? That is anything but a WOW factor. Anyone touching ANY CDA appliance with anything other than a bargepole should be shot...

My kitchen wow will be a mirrored splashback - antique mirror hopefully. Hidden sockets and lights, well sort of hidden - just under wall cabinets. Will reflect so much light!

My corian worktop went in today so hopefully that will happen very soon!
  • there are lots of designer looking taps on ebay which are really cheap. Come with a ten year guarantee so not bad quality either.
Dont know if its very wow but how bout something like a magic corner. Very useful and kinda wow if you havent seen them before. If you bake a bit maybe think about fitting a piece of granite into the wood worktops? Also think about lighting as that can make a kitchen look really good

    thanks
i have picked a plain white kitchen with wood worktops and am looking at funky taps maybe.................

In the same vein a pull out larder thingy is useful. They are quite thin, and if you have lots of things that would otherwise get stuck at the back of cupboards, such as spices, they are useful. Wish I had one!

  • We're renovating a cottage at the moment and are just putting a kitchen it. The 2 wow factors we've gone for are:

    1) An induction hob. These have come down in price recently. From searching around the internet it seems that the vast majority who've had an induction hob wouldn't ever have anything else in the future. They have the controllability of gas but are much cleaner as spills don't burn and so are easy to wipe off. Additionally they cook faster and use much less power so bills are kept down.

We've bought the NUTID HIN4T from IKEA. It comes with a 5 year guarantee and is a re-badged Whirlpool. Cost was £249. Go to http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/30147618/

    2) A granite sink. These are supposed to keeps their looks for a long time and be easy to keep clean. The one we've bought is the Carron Phoenix Summit 1.5 in Oatmeal that comes with a lifetime guarantee. Go to http://www.carron.com/products/sinks/materials/about_granite. It looks gorgeous with our wood effect worktop! Cost was £249.99 delivered from http://www.sinks-taps.com/default.aspx?view=item&itemid=62.

Although these items have the wow factor, the main reason we've gone for them is their practicality, plus hopefully long life.

I really don't see how an induction hob is a wow factor anymore?

Going back 9 or 10 years ago, they were rightly considered different, but since the cost of them has reduced dramatically in the last few years, I'd probably say around 40% of all new kitchens included an induction hob.

The only time I'd consider it to have that wow, would be if it was something like this:http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/De_Dietrich_38cm_Modular_Wok_Induction_Hob_DTI1032X/version.asp which gives you something a little bit different.

Same goes for a sink really, you'd have to be looking at something a little bit different to add that wow factor, something like:http://www.elkayusa.com/cps/rde/xchg/elkay/hs.xsl/elkay-res-90715.aspx
    or maybe even: http://www.designrumahku.com/kitchen-design/japanese-compact-kitchen-island-from-toyo/

  • Just bought his tap for my new kitchen Im fitting at the end of the month

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BNIB-Italian-Large-Modern-Kitchen-Sink-Mixer-Tap-New-RRP-330-/120841854315?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Kitchen_SinksTaps_GL&hash=item1c22bc5d6b#ht_500wt_1032

It arrived today and I really like it.
The person selling them has a few taps by Franco Ferrelli . I picked mine up for £51 including postage. Just need to find the sink to go with it now
  • A fair point, Meepster, but it's all relative and does depend on the budget. For us these are the first time we've bought such items. I accept it may not be the same for your clients, but in our circles they're luxuries and so do have the wow factor. I expect that's the same for a number of other MSE members, and that's why I drew attention to them.
