    Noted Power Kitten thank you.

I applied yesterday afternoon, before the school run and was accepted this morning - after the school run:) Not sure on limit etc yet but I'm happy that it went through.

I was BR in April 10 and auto discharge in April 11. I applied a week or so ago and after taking their "identity confirmation" call and sitting through their script to try and sell me additional insurance I was told I was accepted. A couple of days later (before I even received the card in the post) I got a text reminding me that I have £500 credit to spend. This company must surely make a lot of money off poor credit-rated people who are thrilled to get a credit card but then cant pay in full at the end of each month. The interest rate is insane. That said of course, I'm glad to have it as a just in case option for those months when the money won't quite last until payday (haven't had one yet since before BR but I remember the embarrassment of having my card declined in a busy supermarket and having to go away empty handed).

  • I applied over a year ago and was instantly met with a message at the end of my application saying thanks but...erm NO.

After reading this last night I applied today and I wasn't met with the automatic message but was told that my application had been successfully submitted and that I would get a telephone call soon...

    Will update as and when
  • Anyone any idea on how long they take to call?

Could you please tell me what bank you have managed to get the above with?

Seconded. I've spoken to the co op today after being with them 4 years and asked whether I could move to the standard current account (no over draft or cheque book on this one) and they said no. I felt a little down about it as I've been with them 4 years, never been over drawn (or even close) nor have I had a bounced DD.
  • Just another quick update.

Advised my friend who's also post-bankruptcy. She's been accepted too.

Looks like there is help out there.
  • Haven't posted for a while, but wanted to let folks know that I've been accepted for the Vanquis card too. BR Feb '10, AD Feb '11. Cleaned up quite a lot of my credit files, but still a loan and an MBNA card still showing from 2010 as defaulted and not settled. Do have lots of green in there though, with Co-op, O2, Virgin and a catalogue account.

Just waiting to receive the card, but already received text saying balance 0, credit available £500. Inteding to use to buy petrol, and pay off each month.

Wife still has a credit card that for some reason never got closed in her BR (think because it had a CR balance of about £1?). Anyway, we've used that quite a bit over the last six months, and same thing - we've cleared every month and paid no interest, and the credit limit has recently doubled to over £2000. Can't see that they checked her CRFs first.

Life during and after BR was hard. I was out of work for over 18 months, but I'm back in work since last July and we are much more comfortable now even though I earn around £15k less than I was earning before. And my commute is under 30 minutes now, whereas before it was around 80-90 minutes.

    Life is good.
