Long Weekend-Which European Town/City..?

For a long weekend break, which European town/City/Area would you recommend excluding France/Spain/UK and why/what sights/attractions..Ta
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Ljubljana - cheap, very pretty and locals friendly
Tallinn - eastern bloc, cheap, friendly locals
Budapest would be behind each of these two for me...

Sighisoara in Romania if you want somewhere a bit different. Beautiful scenery, not *too* touristy (if you ignore the Dracula tat everywhere), really nice local food, and other places a short train journey away.

Or Florence is amazing, and has some gorgeous food. Long queues to get into anywhere though.

    Florence.

    End of debate.

    On a budget?

    Krakow.

    Still end of debate.
  • Vilnius. Amazing. Lots to see and do within walking distance, and if you want to catch a bus there's even more. Good value flights, accommodation, food and entertainment.

But don't go on the See Krakow tour to Auschwitz, it's a total rip off.

tbh I would find out what destinations are available at appropriate times from your local airport first.

No point setting your heart on a destination that would be hard to get to!
