Never heard of waitrose until I moved from the south midlands to London. Come to think of it, Sainsbury's used to be rare north of the midlands IIRC.
Me, I'm very MSE and can't wait for Home Bargains to conquer London, but secretly worried they'll never do it.:cool:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I had a mate who lived in South (pronounced Sarf) Woodham (Woodum) Ferrers (Fers) in Essex (IMHO the worst town on Earth) and he claimed that the ASDA built there in the 1980's was the first ever in the south of England.

P.S. I would like to point out that I am ready to go out and sample the delights of Oxford.
When we finally manage to both be ready to go out is anyone's guess 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I have one eye.... it's been hurting all day, it's blurry and was almost impossible to drive the narrow/winding/busy lanes today, but I had jobs to do.
It was caused by a combination of: lighting a fag .... standing in a wind tunnel when a gust of wind blew my way .... got a hot rock right in the bl00dy eye.
Earlier I had to stick my head under a pillow and close my eyes for 30 minutes..... I'm expecting it to clear up by itself in 2 days or so. Never done this before.0 -
Pitt Rivers museum. Can be a bit oppressive /claustrophobic in parts. Just lose yourself in the Blackwells bookstore -seem to remember it's massive.
Always wondered what it costs to live in that part of England.
Often wondered if you lived between London and Birnimingham would you be better going to Brum for shopping. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Ouch, I hate it when that happens.
Don't you have eye wash lying around? Did you rinse it?0 -

I didn't think it was going to be a problem - thought it hurt a bit and was probably a bit of ash and would sort itself out in 10 minutes ... and I was busy as I had a 50 mile round trip to make to meet some schedules.
Eyewash is something you'd buy when you need it - you can't really have it in because once opened it's supposed to be used within 3 months. It kind of makes a mockery of the huge bottles they sell .... I know this because I recently was overseeing the meds box of my old and had to throw out the old stuff, buy new stuff... then when they needed it again a few months later and I got the meds box down it was out of date, so had to buy another. When I open a bottle/similar, that has a "use within..." instruction, I write the date on the lid so it's not used with mad abandonment 10 years later0 -
