This is a piece of art bought just to be a piece of art, not To mean anything, just because i like it. And coz it was affordable:D

I'd love a Patrick Hughes piece, if I was ever going to invest in a piece of art. Because his works are something that I could spend days looking at & loving.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Ah...if it were investing in big name art i would want a HUGE amount of money for a titian, or a stubbs. Dh would want a caneletto, i know. We have two caneletto prints bought for twenty euros and dh adores them. The frame on one is alright. I am not really into Caneletto.

What i would really like is a couple of nice big peieces, not worried about name opr anything, but things i love. I look periodically and the things i like i usually cNnot afford, i was surprised to find this, and a coue of opthers i really liked for under £100. There is one i like for £120 but i do not have that spare atm, but it would look lovely in my my sitting room.

I was given a beautiful painting on saturday, and put it in our bedroom, and i cannot tell you how much having something bright and happy has added to my getting up and going to bed. I am not suggesting for a minuite art is an essential in life, but beauty probably is, for the soul, and its a very nice luxury, even at the low level i purchased at!

de Botton would disagree with you (as would I). Art/beauty are essentials in life, for the positivity, aspirations, a reminder of what we could be & should aim for...
Religion for atheists is a good read. Not grabbing me as much/as closely as Status Anxiety (still his best imo), but a useful and relevant book.

<makes another note to update nice people with a recently read list...>

One: i probably wasn't clear, i think beauty is essential for the soulbut art is not

Two:i agree with de Bottons evaluation of the positivity of art, but i so not agree they are essentials. Essentials....air, water, sustenance, shelter, that kinda thing

Three: for me more than the essentials are easential! But for me and de botton, its some what arrogant imo to not recognise them for the luxuries they are. I think i posted the ice windows i had here, they were beautiful.

Think one of my parents is moving in here this summer, and if so will pay for a bathroom to go in. Hahaha. The other and i might be just about to start doing a hell of a lot of househunting.

Where I am isn't even ON your map... you've missed a whole chunk off on the bottom left hand corner.... and that's where I am.

There used to be a amp thing online that you could share with people and people could put their own pins on it... wonder what that was... probably loads like that nowadays

    Sounds fun.

I fear the world has moved on. I googled "find friends on a map" and it gave sites where people could use their smartphones so we could locate each other in real time.

Not much use for privacy reasons and my smartphone hasn't got GPS.

Hmmm....need to find a house for t'other parent now. Found three potentials. One is a bit near me for my taste but the nicest house...considering the other will be living here and they are separating, i would like to avoid any in the middleness.

Two are anout the right distance away, close enough to visit weekly/fortnightly and to get to in an emergency, far enough away to not feel imposed upon.

I had forgotten how stressful this househunting business is! Also, my parent is unrealistic about what they need, because they want to let it and live overseas and come back when older. So, something with a big garden is not going to be easy to maintain at ninety, and three floors less useful than a bungalow or two floors.

Anyone else want to borrow my parent and do all the househunting with them?

Have you moved to the Scilly Isles, or perhaps you've bought a Yacht? :T Now that's posh!

A friend had her parents separate at about the age of 70, she found it hard and kept telling them they were too old to separate and should get a grip.

Very difficult to avoid being caught in the middle, particularly of one is living with you.

No, but the map had all/most of Cornwall missing.
