ooohhh....can't be mithered to edit the previous post.

I was having the pee taken out of me yesterday by my family...because i speak so poshly and am so pedantic about spelling on text messages (i cannot abide text speak).

some members also didn't agree that a nice voice can get you far, as far as i am concerned, if you sound like a chav, who would want to employ you in a customer facing well paid job?

Made me feel a bit of a freak though...i come from a family of east end londoners but sound like someone with a plum in their mouth.

    You are me! Oh no!

I don't like "dodgy meat", which includes anything with fat, skin, gristle, or anything weird, or anything that's mashed up so you don't know what's in it (burgers, sausages, etc).

I do like fish, but not seafood, and I loathe and detest mushrooms.

I'm not allergic to seafood, but I'm not a fan.

    Uh oh!:o
    Looks like I am PN & NDG!

I simly cannot thank a post in defence of quorn. Imo its heinous stuff. I adore vegetarian food. I was vegetarian as a teen for a while and dh and i both eat a lot of vegetarian food, and vegan food come to think of it. But quorn i do not like.

    Why?
& what would you reccommend instead?

Food on a tastingmmenu is meant to be amoung the best food offered by top chefs in the country. It is not sustainance but appreciation of art and produce. Compare it to tickets for music at top venues, to theatre tickets with big name star, to tickets for top league spoting events.....

I don't think it fares that badly in comparision.

    I can completely understand that.
I think it is more a case of circumstances. Seeing that price makes me come over all:

My income isn't high enough to justify that kinda expenditure.

Hy don't i like it? Several reasons, least of them i do not like it in my mouth. The taste and texture might by like poor
Y produced meat, but not like good stuff. Personally, i think its npot that good for people, thoguh do recognise it has stuff in its favour like reduced fat and price.

Instead we eat 'real' food.....vegetables and beans, lentils. I love lentils of many varieties and they work very well in many situations people would use quorn mince. we are not vegan we can always eat straight veg meals andbalance it with another meal later in the week. for me, as a vegetable eating omnivore (atm) i'd rather eat food i like that is vegetarian and vegan than eat food i dislike because its sort of meaty.

Edit: its nice to have my own funky typos ans spelling back.

No one pretends its cheap or affordableforeveryone...for idiots that is part of why they like it....but its also about priotisation.. If that sort of thing were important to you you could give up ,usic, gigs etc, and go to have a tasting menu once/ twice a year. But youget more out. Of other stuff, which is perfect. Vive la difference i say.

Whenever there's a NP meet-up, you guys can sit at the big table and eat quorn, lentils and hummus.
I'll be sitting at the kiddies table with davesnave, zagubov, sss555s and chewie and we'll eat nice juicy steak. :D

I think that paying the huge premium to eat in a Restaurant with a famous chef's name attached, but where he/she doesn't do the cooking is a bit of a waste.

Ramsay has his name attached to so many nowadays, but he hardly ever does 'service' is any of them.

I ate a couple of times at L'Aubergine back in the early 90's when he was still an up and comer, and the food was amazin' , he came out to chat to us on the second occasion, and was just as bullish as he is now only slightly less obnoxious.

Had a major row with Marco Pierre White around about the same time just after he opened his gaff at the Hyde Park Hotel, the maitre 'd asked us what he thought of a dish, and we told him the truth......cue wild man storming out of kitchen and having a rant

......we ended up buying a bottle of Paradis and he joined us later to finish it off.

This is food planned by those at the top of their discipline, cooked by those trained by them, and in usually nice surroundings. To pay for the surroundings, and a devent wage for people in kitchen and front of house its goiong to cost more. Its skewed by the abbys,al psuedo food at the bottom of the industry...caghe reared, and preped by machines and people on what is rarely a decent living wage or lifestyle. Paying seems reasonable to me.

I'm really a fussy eater, in that I like food but have particular dislikes. SO I often want to change from the menu eg pick different vegetables, sauces etc but I'm inhibited in posh places in case the chef throws a wobbly that his perfectly balanced are disrupted by my shallow taste buds.
