Paypal payment for gumtree item

Another good method of payment for Gumtree is https://www.pppay.com, just make sure they don't pay via pppay secure, as that requires a UPS or citylink tracking number to release your money. Normal pppay is good tho, because your buyer can choose to pay from their credit card or bank account0

Does it cost to use pppay.com
thanks0 -
In my case as a buyer I am pleased I used Paypal. I have a problem with a seller at the moment who refuses to send item that was paid for by my credit card through Paypal. He will not release the item until the payment has been received into his bank account. In a way its a bit like going into a shop paying by credit card and the shop saying we will let you have the goods when we receive the money from the credit card company and paid into our bank account.
We are only talking about a DVD valued for a few pounds.
For me its not on. I have now esculated the claim and hopefully will get the money back.0 -
It doesn't cost the buyer anything
(unless they use escrow, which you don't want them to) but the receiving fees are as follows:

Actually, that is not a bad idea and may need some more thought. The ONLY thing someone can do with yoru bank details is to set up a direct debit to an official body which is of course easily cancelled, they cannot do anything else. By making transfers into a savings account that is not capable of having direct debits set up even that tiny little worry is covered.
I think this would be a win win situation for any seller
I've said it before
have a basic little account to allow transfers
then you can transfer the money to your main account0 -
I'm not sure i understand. If it still costs me as a seller to recieve the money then surely better to use a saving account and ask for a transfer - what is the account balance columnObviously_the_best wrote: »It doesn't cost the buyer anything

I have a savings account specifically for bank transfers and for my card processor to pay funds in to, I'd highly recommend The west brom's one0

In reply to you, paul2louise, account balance is where your customer tops up their pppay balance and pays you with that, a bit like a PayPal balance, and I agree, it is better to ask for a bank transfer but if you or your customer for some reason aren't happy with that, I was just suggesting pppay as another option0
