Viagra emails driving me mad

Hi
Is there any way I can stop this junk mail?
On a daily basis I get at least 4 emails asking me if I want to buy medications like viagra, american pain killers etc.They then have a link within the email to web sites which I obviously never reply to!!!:eek:

The senders have " ordinary " names ...like David Jones, and the titles are usually biblical sayings. I have tried to block the messages using the outlook express message rules ...but without any luck
They are driving me mad and I just want them to go away.
Does anyone have any advice ???:question:

my provider is Karoo..... its the only one accessible in my area. I do have a hotmail add which I use when giving my email to posible dodgy sites or where I think my email add may not be safe, but I have less problems there !!

If I change my email add won't that cause more problems as I will have to inform all the people who I do want to get emails from ?

You cant stop spam but you can try filtering it out with Mailwasher or Spamhilator

also why are you opening them, if you are?

it can send send a message back saying your email addy is valid and then the spammeres will keep on sending spam!

set up filters in your email account if you can, or if you use outlook then you defo can
when you set the filters up then add all the different ways the spammers spell viagra etc sometimes with @ for the letter A or 1 for the letter I etc etc

This then should dump them straight into your junk folder.

also as mentioned mailwasher is a superb piece of software

There wouldn't be all this spam if there weren't a few idiots who actually do buy this rubbish unfortunately. Makes it a very lucrative business for the spammers.

Sorry you will think me really stupid. When I log on to my emails, which is the outlook express I get a list of my email, but I have to click onto the email in order to delete it. When I do that the email opens automatically.... is there any other way to delete them ???

Make sure you dont double click the email first.

check your settings for reading emails, there is normaly a delay of 5 seconds when a email is highlighted that it gets marked as read, I use the standard outlook so not 100% sure on the options available, but they should be the same. Or it could be something like 1 click open, change this to double click open if you can. Hope you understand where I comin from with these settings

Also make sure you switch the pre-view pane off as this again marks your emails as read, and if there is a virus in the spam email then with the preview pain open it can install/run it

I think to stop them opening you need to go to the view tool in outlook express then layout and check that the show pre pane is not ticked.If it is untick it and I think that should stop them opening.

also use this mailwasher to block them getting through to your email program, it lets you bounce or block the email or let it through to your email program
