i buy them from argos and return them within the 30 day money back gurantee period.
    i test about 2 a month.
anyway i have returned the wrong player buy accident.
i had two of the same make but i have returned the wrong one in the wrong box to argos.

Well if i would start to refuse to serve you if it was a store i worked in, we have done this before to people who like nothin g more than buying goods and returning them. Its people like you that put the price of goods up for other people. But i also agree with other posts that its upto the individual who took the return to have checked that the correct goods were in the box. Other than that GET A LIFE

There may be a good reason for the OP to be doing returns frequently. Mystery shoppers do it all the time!

Mystery shoppers dont take it out of the box to test all the time.

Can you think of a genuine reason why somebody would need to buy DVD players from Argos, test them, and take them back? Constantly? :S

People like that are the reason why Argos stuff often seems 2nd hand

I had a buyer like this once:- "can I please return the XXX I am still within my free trial period"

Got very upset when I told them to bu$$er off!!

Presumably the other 'trial' player came from Argos too ?
And no doubt that one will also get returned soon ?

If so, guess its even-stevens and and it'll get resolved in the warehouse. If not, I would say it was fraudulant not to 'own up' - but Argos must also take some of the blame for not checking the returned goods.

But for gawds sake stop doing it, I hate to receive an obvious '2nd owner' Argos product !

I will admit that in the past I have purchased a tool kit from Argos to change the exhaust on my car... as soon as the socket looked at the nut, it broke, so I managed to use some other stuff to get the job done and then took it back....

So I jokingly call that my "16 day trial" but in reality, the toolkit was pants so thats why I took it back and the fact that I managed to get the job done with it is neither here or there....

I though that they weren't allowed to sell anything that was returned?!?!

Surely it IS 2nd hand if someone uses it and then returns it cos they "don't like it"?!!?

Hence why the 30MBG includes the phase "unused, in their original undamaged packaging, in a saleable condition" (link).

I always ask the customer if the item has been used or not before checking it over, but something tells me this guy would have said it wasn't used  , and you can't go calling customers liars can you now. It's a very catch 22 area - how do you stop one customer lying to a CA upseting another customer without taking a huge financial hit with returns and driving up base product costs for everyone?

It is a bit cheeky isn't it especially if its done on a regular basis. I buy stuff from Argos on the basis that I can take it back should it prove to be unsuitable (particularly as you can't really look at it before buying) but I certainly wouldn't use it first! I bought a blind the other day but when I got it home it was the wrong colour so it was good that I could take it back (unopened of course)
