What people meant is that the money is to spend on things your son needs, not a new playstation for his brother or to go down the bingo on a Saturday night.0 -

That is exactly what it does it tops up the money you are already getting there is no secret to this and would be a fool to say thanks but no thanks if that was the case wouldnt be claiming dla in the first place if did not need all the help could get. im not too sure your thoughts on this thread are too helpfull to anyone they seem to just criticise not actually guide in anyway!:mad:0 -
I know the money is for my son and I know that DLA is not means tested but other benefits like IS are - so I was worried if it would have an affect on these as we only just make ends meet as it is - therefore although the money is for my son if other benefits we receive that specifically pay for my mortgage, council tax and school meals are taken away then the money to pay for these has to come from somewhere. What is the point of earmarking money to pay for treatments or equipment my son needs if the basic needs of food, shelter and warmth are not met???
As for topping up my income - I don't smoke, don't drink, don't go out to the pub, bingo or anywhere else unless it is to take my kids somewhere.
I probably go out for a meal twice a year - for my birthday and my partner's birthday paid for by the birthday money our families give us...
I resent the fact that I am on benefits means to some people that I am a selfish lazy SOB
I agree with BargainsNeeded if you can't help being judgemental and reading things into someone's words that aren't there perhaps you shouldn't post on this part of MSE at all!!You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs

Your tax credits will go up by about £60 weekly once you tell them about the DLA high care backdated to October.
If you or your partner claim carers allowance you will end up £31 weekly better off again backdated, make sure you let IS know when the carers is awarded as its the IS that goes up £31 weekly.0 -
I regret my bit of a rant (above) coz I try not to reply to posters who just criticize rather than help or support but sometimes it's hard not to

hey dont regret i certainly dont regret what i said, you posted the query because you were worried or concerned did that particular poster put your mind at rest or even give any advice at all. no! they simply saw u me and others as money grabbers and took the assumption we spent all the money on nights out and bingo??????? u will notice that they did not come back with any comment after yours or mine, because the fact was they were just out to criticize(sp?). posters like that u can do without.0 -

I will come back it seems that most on this board that get DLA for kids regard the money as theirs it is not, it is for the child and TBF most people I see on benifits (and I see more than most!) seem to have new phones, desiger gear, go out down the pub, smoke, have sky tv and live a good life! And this board seems to have more than its fair share!EVERYTIME YOU THANK MY POSTS A PUPPY DIES!
