Do you give to beggars?

they apparently gave to the lady who was short of change for the car park - quite unusual to ask a beggar for money but there you go0

Looking back, it seems that make me wise's wording could apply to the subject of the documentary, fair enough, I assumed they were talking about something more specific and didn't double check.
However, I'm not the one making personal comments or reporting people for having a different view!0 -
The way you worded that whole post and those to make me wise was nasty. If you cant see that, then its your problem. If you choose to portray yourself as you do so be it. Personally I wouldn't want to be seen in that light.0

Well hey, if my posts broke the rules and they've been reported I'm sure they'll disappear and you won't have to worry about them.0

I'll delurk
I've read this thread again and again. Can someone tell me exactly what person_one has said to offend everyone and get reported? Is this part of longer running issues? I'm not attempting to stoke the fire or take any sides I'm just genuinely confusedUpdating soon...0 -
I forgot to say - yes I would give a beggar a few quid. I dont know their circumstances or what brought them down, or whether they are drug or alcohol addicted - I just know that 'there but for the grace of the Gods - it could be me, my OH, my sons or any of MY loved ones'
Every one of these people are human - and deserve help.0 -

I don't give either - primarily because the black sheep of the family used to do this, conveniently forgetting the nice car he had used to drive to that particular day's begging site and the nice handouts that he was getting courtesy of the taxpayer.
In fact recently one head of a homeless charity actively encouraging people no not to give to people who claimed to be homeless as most of the money they were given ended up in the hands of the local drug dealer. Better to give them a meal than money was the advice2014 Target;

I don't give to beggars as I don't know my money will be spent. What I do do, is give to homeless charities (£25 odd at xmas and odd bits throughout the year) as then I know the money will be put to the best use. I'm not saying all homeless people do this, but some will spend the money on drugs and drink and seeing as I don't know which ones will and which ones won't I'd rather give to charity0
