so what would be the best choice for CC for me? as i only have 2 MP as a negative.

    Thanks

Try all 3 in one day, Aqua First, Then Capital One, Then Vanquis.

    - Then apply for nothing else, If you are declined the above, Its time to give up for 6-12 months.

Aqua are fantastic to be honest, Although from acceptance to actually reciving the card you're talking 2 weeks (Sign contract etc etc)

Capital One are good ! They offered me a Secured Credit Card (I snapped up the chance), Don't see what harm a little deposit could do ! Another way to build up my credit file, who knows, Maybe after 6-12 months of good account conduct perhaps I could apply for the progress mastercard and close the secured card !

Vanquis Are good to, If used correctly like any other sub prime card, Pay within the interest free period (usually 56 days ?) then you'll have no problems, Just don't max any of these cards out, Use responsibly, They can be a bit pushy on the phone trying to sell you PPI and fraud protection, But just tell them no !

I'd give Barclaycard a miss, They have a seriously tight acceptance criteria even for their initial card ! Perhaps give this one ago in a years time after running the above cards properly !

If applying for vanquis then don't apply for Granite (Both run by Vanquis bank) and you can only have either a granite card or vanquis...Vanquis being the easiest to be approved for !

Theirs also another card called RISE (Google RISE Visa), Not sure as I've never applied, Perhaps easy acceptance ? Who knows !

Best of luck ! Let us know how you get on !

I would try and see what they say :)

Aqua is owned by the Halifax its their sub prime credit card and if your not accepted for the progress they might offer you the classic :)

Aqua is owned and underwritten by SAV credit. Bank of Scotland just issue the cards
Debt free and staying that way!

Very strange, Usually capital one automatically reject applications if you apply again within 6 months !

Aqua Accepted me with defaults, On wards and upwards !

Would you think it would be ok to apply for a nation wide CC as one of my Missed payments will be more than 12 years old, once experian update their records! so in total i will have 1 MP which will go away next month.

Is worth me applying for Nationwide?

    Cheers

No, nationwide CC is a prime card and will reject you most likely.

My wife applied for a Nationwide CC last night and got an instant no. she's got 2 CCs,Littlewoods & 1 current account (with nationwide) a 14 month history of all perfect 0's and still an instant no.

Give me a quick run down on your current situation and credit buddy,

    - Do you have any credit cards ?
    - Any loans ?
    - Have you checked all 3 credit files (experian, equifax, call credit) to ensure all data held against you is correct ?
    - Are you on the electoral Register at your current address ?
    - How many credit searches have you made in the last 12 months ?
    - How long at your current address have you lived ?
    - Current time in employment ?

Should give us a better understanding of what you can and can't apply for !

    - Are you on the electoral Register at your current address ? yes for 7 years
    - How many credit searches have you made in the last 12 months ? 7:o mostly for mobile phone contracts and few CC such as tesco and got instant no 10 months ago.
    - How long at your current address have you lived ? 10 years
    - Current time in employment ? 1yr and 2 months

    Hope this helps.

ps - 1 missed payment on experian, once they update their systems this month.

    Hmm,

I don't think you'd get mainstream ! But that's just my personal opinion, There are Cards run by a company 'Creation' they are pretty touch and go, Not sure whether they're classed as mainstream, Google Search 'Accessory Card MasterCard' or 'Flybe MasterCard'.

If I was you i'd most certainly start Sub Prime, Try the Barclaycard initial, From what I hear that's the 'Hardest' Sub prime card to be approved for, But before try the 'Apply with confidence' checker here at https://letmechoose.barclaycard.co.uk/ !

That should give you an indicator of what you can get approved for !

The only way to find out is to apply really.

I agree with the above post. Your situation isn't too bad, so go for the Barclaycard Initial, but check first to see what they recommend (using https://letmechoose.barclaycard.co.uk/).

I got accepted for a mainstream card (Lloyds TSB Premier Avios) with late payments within the last 12 months. I don't have any other adverse credit. Some lenders see late payments as far less serious than others.

So, go for Barclaycard, Cap One Progress and one mainstream...but wait 6 months if you're not successful. (you should be ok)
