Parking ticket issued at 1.38am!

Hi all,
I am hoping for some advice about a parking ticket I received this morning - thought this would be a good place to start!
I live in a new development of flats and parking is a premium. I got in late last night and couldn't find a space. The adjoining streets are Edinburgh Council permit holders only so that was a no go so I parked on a double yellow within the development (quite a few of cars do it as cars exceed spaces overall) with the intention of moving the car first thing.
I was up at 7.30am but found a PCN on the windscreen with offence code 01 - Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours given at 1.38am.
Is there any comeback to this? Can a warden give a ticket if they're not on official duty at the time?
Not feeling too confident about challenging this but I'd really appreciate any advice anyone can offer.
Thanks in advance!

can you tell us exactly who issued this ticket, your answer determines ours - thanksExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Hi Taffy,
Thanks for the post.
The ticket is from Edinburgh Council so not a private company unfortunately.0 -
What makes you think that Edinburgh Council doesn't have wardens that work a late shift? (just curious!):heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Perhaps I'm being a bit naive but I have never seen traffic warden working beyond 8pm let alone 2am. I appreciate that they can but the development is a good dander off the main road and as I said plenty of cars park overnight around the complex because of the lack of spaces available. I'm not feeling too confident on any challenge I put against this but just thought I would ask peoples' thoughts.0

Your best bet is go straight to Pepipoo for further advice, they are the experts in council tickets, they will need to see a scan of your pcn front and back, just remove all details that relate to you and host them here and post links to the images on that newly created thread of yours, if you can also supply images of where you parked that will help also.

I've seen them in Leeds at midnight and they were ticketing dozens of cars. Local Councils now run the service in England and it costs a fortune so penalty money needs to keep coming in.0

our council employ APCOA for the night fleeceing patrols! makes you wonder if your on the right planetPPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0

Oh well the fat cats at the local authority will be pleased to know that somebody is collecting for their pensions and bonuses. The safety of road users and pedestrians is not taken into consideration.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

Edinburgh Council have squads out that ticket 24/7, so don't be hoping to get-off the ticket on time alone.
However, many of their tickets have been found to be unenforceable for a number of other reasons and they are regularly slammed for their slap-dash approach to parking.
So it would be well worth taking this over to pepipoo to see what can be made of it there.0 -

Better things Edinburgh council could be doing with their resources I'm sure!
Will let you know how I get on.
Thanks for the input / advice all!0
