All I can say is that backing upto DVD with Vs 9.0 my PC restarted and all info was then burned to disk, like the old powerquest way.0 -
Ghost cannot operate from within Windows, it is actually a DOS based program. As XP (and now Vista) don't support DOS, Ghost has to re-boot the machine and run its own version of DOS before it can run its own backup program. Normally I boot up a 98 startup disc and then run Ghost through the DOS commands on that ( I have the Ghost files from the floppy copied onto a spare partition on my hard drive, so can actually run Ghost from the HDD in DOS mode).0

There are two streams of development in ghost products.
The original ghost and all products upto ghost 8/2003, run in dos, or create a small virtual dos partition, and shutdown to DOS to backup.
Ghost 10 (which is derived from Powerquest drive image), runs in Windows, and doesn't have to shutdown into DOS to do a backup.
Personally I prefer the dos version, as in Windows, you are always backing up a moving target, so it's never going to be a 100% copy.
If you buy the retail version of ghost 10, 2003 comes in the box as well, so you can choose which to use.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
