Can you muffle the intercom with fabric or something stuck over the speaker?

Didn't you start a thread about this back in 2009?

Did any of the advice given there help?

Without checking - that was about her separation anxiety and that has been sorted but uinfortunately none of the advice did work with Zara BUT a simple, loud shout did the trick which was a total shock.

This intercom barking seems to be a separate issue

But thjanks for digging out that old thread, will go over it again and see if I have missed anything perhaps...

When your pet is barking loudly try and squirt her with a water pistol. It's best done secretly so she doesn't realise where the water is coming from.

Our pet Barney used to bark at people going past our side garden, we squirted a household spray bottle, and he never barks now.

    It's worth a try.

    Good luck.
  • Gsds area guarding breed so she is only doing what she sees as her job ie warning you there is someone around.
If you can teach her a speak command you can then teach her a quiet command so you can control the barking.

You can start to do this by encouriging her to bark then add the speak command. then use a reward of some kind along with the quiet command and reward her when shes quiet. It may take some time to do but as strange as it seems if you can get her to bark on command you should be able to get her to bee quiet.

Funny that but she knows "speak" command - and she "speaks" when asked.
    Shutting up is another matter...

Will try outside, when she is barking for me to kick her ball, will see if anything will make her stop.

When she barks outside I tell her to sit and she sits and does not bark while sitting.

Tried the sit at home when she barks - no reaction whatsoever.

Will be trying some ideas posted here and on the old thread that Frugalista posted the link to... thanks :)

I think that the water pistol, same as the shout and the pet corrector is about a surprising noise/action that shocks her so she stops. I disagree (for once :D) with kryl that it would frighten her, I think it's more of a surprise than a scare for a non-nervous dog.

GR, you know your dog, and you know what will make her go 'eh??' rather than 'eek' :D

I bought from the range a collar for perry to try and stop the barking, well its not stopped but it has calmed down a bit.

you can set it to vibrate or buzz, it needs to be fitted snugly but obviously the 2 finger gap i used.

Every time he barked it emitted a little buzz, which at the start shocked him to the extent of one bark, buzz oh ok will stop now.

he's been barking this morning with people going past the house so the collar went back on and so he just grumbles and a little growl.

    I got the medium

I've tried it on me so i would know what it felt like, it vibrates, it doesn't shock (would not use a shock one)

i cant find it on the net the one i got but a canvas collar with a small red box, which can buzz or vibrate, and can be switched off and left on.
