Mart.
As above from 'Solar Panel Guide Discussion' thread.
Mart.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

"Photovoltaics cause prices to drop on the European Electricity Exchange
July, 2011: On July 16, the price of electricity on the EEX dropped to off-peak night levels in the middle of the day"
Is this how FITs subsides may in the future benefit its funders.
thought I'd post this again here as it seems a more relavent thread0 -

These pesky panels are getting everywhere!
"Tokelau has become the first territory able to meet all its electricity needs with solar power, officials say.
The South Pacific territory - comprising the three atolls of Atafu, Nukunonu and Fakaofo - had been dependent on diesel to generate electricity.
New Zealand, which administers Tokelau, funded a $7m (£4.3m) solar project."

More panel news, but closer to home this time:-
"Lark Energy, a leading solar development and construction company, has secured planning permission for the UK’s largest solar farm at the site of a former World War II airfield in Leicestershire.
The 32MWp solar project at Wymeswold Airfield will consist of around 125,000 panels positioned on land between the old runways, amounting to some 150 acres."

Anyone want to bet it's rather cheaper than the 90 million or so the eqivalent number of solar on roof installations would cost? (including subsidy)
Aha.
A teeny bit of googling comes up with the figure of 35 million.
Or about 90p/watt.
We need more of this sort of scheme.
Though perhaps on a slightly more modest scale.0 -

Funny you should say that!
Several of the posters on this forum didn't agree, and gave all sorts of reasons why little sub 4kWp systems mounted on roofs all over UK was better!
P.S.
All electricity exported as well - no need for thousands of devices to heat water to ensure it is all used on site.;)0 -

You and Yours Radio 4 Today, The woman with the blighted home is just past half way through the programme.
Someone check out the £15 million to £5 million fall in construction costs in 2 years for me. [Those silly Chinese want to get their hands on our quantitative easing?]
The claim is made that green measures are costing the bill payer £11 per year.
[But can you trust BBC journalism?]
Near the end of the same programme there is also an undertaking from "the department" to implement the "recast" EU directive that says anyone seeking to extend their home must mitigate the damage by installing green measures in the existing part of the property, in order to to get approval.0 -

As usual, you are wrong / mis-quoting again. The discussions in question revolved around the financial viability of PV systems, domestic, commercial, and farm scale. And the difficulties placed on the eventual viability of PV farms due to wholesale leccy prices being so very much lower than retail prices.
Keep up - big or small, the more the better.
Mart.
PS, I note your reference to export, now includes water heating, does this subtle revision finally mean you realised your mathematical/accounting error, in claiming that panels on roofs don't have the same net effect on the grid as panels in a field?Mart.
