Electric Sofa Channels on Freeview/Virgin

I have been told by a colleague this morning that someone has posted on Yahoo Answers UK website that Electric Sofa Television Channels will be available on Freeview/Virgin from the end of April 2012. I have checked the website and what my colleague informed me is shown on that website but nowhere else. It does not say whether it will be shown on Freeview or Virgin. Does any know if this is true and if so on which channel, or is someone giving the incorrect and unsubstantiated information/rumours. Thank You

They were due to start broadcasting on Freesat last November but have postponed the launch.

Incorrect - they have said that they will initially launch FTA on the Sky EPG and would look into joining the freesat EPG and other platforms. They have refused point blank to quote a launch date for the last year merely stating that they will release the date a month or so before launch.

For confirmation of the above see their website and forum http://www.electric-sofa.com/

I am perfectly correct. They originally planned launch for early last year, then they postponed until last November. Now they have postponed again.

Each time they change their mind they update their website no doubt it presently shows their current position.

I am on their mailing list and have had numerous emails over the last 18 months giving start dates which are postponed.

None of the services,Sky/VM ect, will release the channel numbers until the channels launch is confirmed, partly due to them having to find space on the available bandwidth.

I believe it is 3 channels:
Film GB – The first ever TV channel devoted exclusively to British cinema
Bringing a mixture of classic and new movies, including family favourites and brand new British films. Each film will also be introduced from the Film GB Central London studios by one of its stars, producers or directors, a cinema expert or someone connected with the film.
Sofa Stars – The new home of the best entertainment
Edgy entertainment, powerful documentaries, acclaimed dramas and daily news brought to you every weekday evening.
Sofa Screen – A new movie channel targeting 25-44 year olds
The most popular genres every weekday evening including tearjerkers, family favourites, thrillers, horror, sci-fi and much more.

If I have it wrong, apologies
  • Film GB might be worth a punt unless it's all 19th century fox black and white "classics", the other two - oh dear! No doubt cheap 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc hand U.S or other imported junk?
