free avast security ?

I download avast free security onto my laptop about a month ago and now it is saying it is not secure and asking me for £20 to use it.

I thought it was free - does anyone know how to continue using for free?

When you install it you get 2 options; 1 being the free option and 1 being the paid for option so you might have chosen the paid option.
  • so if I register it now will it still work or will i have to install it again, I am certain I got the free version but I can't remember if I registered for the year ???

You certainly don't "make life easier" do you!

Click on the link in post #2, get your free registration key and then enter it.

    How easy is that.

You have to register to get free avast licence for 1 year

    Recommendation
Instead I recommend if it is a Windows OS to use 'Microsoft Security Essentials' because it from the manufacturer of Windows itself and I have been using since it first came out and have had no problems. It integrates well into windows doesn't bother as much as AVG what i had before.

    Yes -uninstall and reinstall.

I didn't "register" my avast, just selected the free option.

Each time it updates, if you click on "see detail" it offers you the chance to upgrade but there is always the continue "free" option.
