After tests I discovered I was stopping breathing on average 12.7 times PER HOUR! I expected maybe 5 times a night! And I was only classed as having mild to moderate sleep apnea!
  • There's all different types of snoring with different remedies.

This website snoring and sleep apnoea shows you how to test which one he has.

Doctors. Could be a serious health complaint. I've been married 13 years and hubby never mentioned the fact I snored like a steam train until I was at a hospital appointment and I now have a c-pap machine at night. I feel better than I have in years and he gets a peaceful night.

My wife's sister's husband has one of these. It worked wonders for him.

    Hello,
I know this isn't anything to do with money but I despratly need help. I know this sounds really wierd but my dad has started snoring majorly loud. He has snored before but recently it has gotten exteremly loud. My mum hasn't slept for the last week and my and my sister have been woken up as we can him from our rooms as well.

Does anyone have any advise on what we can do. Obviously it's not my dads fault but it is getting my mum down as she just can't sleep.
    .

I snored very loudly some years ago , i was not over weight & i was very fit them days , but i kept my other half awake & so decided to do something about it.
I paid privateley to see a specialist at his home , he then put me on top of his waiting list & within a few weeks i had a NHS OPERATION with the same fellow.
i went in to hospital at 8.30 am & had the op & you will have difficulty believing me when i tell you that at 3pm that same day i was sat in the pub on the way home & i was tucking in to gammon egg & chips & i had no problems at all , i was eating a sandwich in the hospital within 2 hours of the op , then they let me go home .
the op has been very succesful , the snoreing used to wake me up never mind my wife , so there is help out there if you want to go & seek it , i do believe the operation i had was a relatively new op & i think i was the second guinea pig to have it done, my throat took some years to totally get used to the operation , i am going back at least 10 years & cannot remember the name of the surgeon , but i know he moved to the isle of man & flys over here to do the operations , his name will come back to me i can assure you if interested. my wife occasionally reminds me that i had a little snore last night , but its not very often & no where as noisy as before the pre op days.
    best of luck
  • My husband has very bad sleep apnea, as he reminds me its a very serious medical condition. It only really started when he quit smoking a few years ago.

We went to the doctors when it was getting beyond a joke (we even got complaints from the neighbors) and they gave him a 'mask' to sleep in. They ran sleep study tests to find out how strong the oxygen pump needed to be.

You should take your dad to your GP - they will run a sleep test on him. My husband said he feels like a million dollers when he wakes up now, as he gets continuous sleep.

it all depends on the type of surgery you had done. If you had a problem with your nose that was causing you to snore, like it was bent or blocked with polyps, or had sinus problems, then yes, you could get surgery on the NHS. But bog standard snoring surgery is not funded by the PCT or NHS is any circumstances anymore

To the OP- its worth him popping along to the GP to get it checked out

    hi
the op i had was on the back of my throat only!, tonsils, adonoids , that area only, & i was really bad but this guy cured me with his new operation he invented for the help with eliminating snoreing , it was fantastic , but like i say some 10 years ago, the surgeon lived in the vicarage house at mytton in lancashire, nr whalley next to the river ribble, i know he no longer lives there as my son lives in the same village , some 4 miles from clitheroe.
