Hello,
I know this isn't anything to do with money but I despratly need help. I know this sounds really wierd but my dad has started snoring majorly loud. He has snored before but recently it has gotten exteremly loud. My mum hasn't slept for the last week and my and my sister have been woken up as we can him from our rooms as well.
Does anyone have any advise on what we can do. Obviously it's not my dads fault but it is getting my mum down as she just can't sleep.

Has he recently put on weight or has he got a cold? These are the two main causes of loud snoring oh and smoking.
My DH snores and always gets worse if he has put weight on or has a cold, it may be worth a trip to the docs.
Other than that all i can suggest id investing in some good ear plugs xI don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Your Dad needs to go to his GP. Lots of medical conditions can cause excessive snoring, and he needs to go and get checked out.0

You know what men are like though, never want to go to the doctors lol. I think my mum may drag him there even if he doesn't want to go Lol. And my dad doesn't smoke or anything. But he is quite big but that is how he has always been so it hasn';t been recent

My OH snores, loudly and consistently. It is worse if he has a cold or is carrying a bit more weight than usual (he is overweight anyway)
The only answer I have found to keep the sanity between us is for me to wear ear plugs. Yes I can still hear him but it isn't as bad and I can sleep.
Not a answer for everyone i'm sure.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Could try one of these devices, they aren't cheap tho.
We make them at work for people and if it doesn't work they get their money back! They are meant to be really effective.

Has he tried any anti-snoring techniques or devices?0

I see that earplugs could work but its silly if everyone in the house has to wear them. I have heard of some mouth gaurds or something similaar.. I dont know whether they work... Was just wondering what evreybody thought

my other half snores, wakes the whole house up, we can even hear him downstairs however, his snoring lulls me to sleep I can't sleep without him lol.
Its so bad that on a stag weekend his roomy decided he would get more sleep on a chair in the reception than in the same room as him

Doctors. Could be a serious health complaint. I've been married 13 years and hubby never mentioned the fact I snored like a steam train until I was at a hospital appointment and I now have a c-pap machine at night. I feel better than I have in years and he gets a peaceful night.0

I second jenhug, mum was a serious snorer, it was only after dad told the doctor that he regularly got woken up by the snoring but would then hear her stop snoring because she had stopped breathing that she was eventually diagnosed with sleep apnoea. Apparently he would lie there listening to the silence wondering how long he should wait before starting to worry... After she had surgery we all got a much better night's sleep
