They are well known in the industry as being the firm that people train with...and then move on from. Often branches full of very young, clueless staff. I know that's a generalisation but I would never use them. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Only seen one house with them. Didn't like the house but was interested to hear that they justified the 300k price tag because next door which wasn't nearly as well presented had just been sold for 290K. I hadn't seen next door so couldn't confirm the condition of the house although I could tell from the outside that the conservatory on the one we looked at was much better.
Fast forward 3 months and the sold price for next door has appeared in the various registers..... 240k:eek:
It really doesn't matter whether they were duped or were lying. The house has now been on the market for 9 months in an area where correctly priced houses are moving quickly.0 -
Think I will pass on using them reading all these 'horror' stories!!0

I know this is a minor point but their ads in property pages of local paper are about the least eye catching and informative of any EA. It gives the impression they are making no effort and don't really care.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Had them round to look at our flat my husband lived in during the week when he lived away. Didn't take to the smarmy young man who came round and they were ridiculously expensive and wouldn't negotiate on fees. Only had them in because they sold a flat on the floor below ours and we wanted to see what they'd got for it as it hadn't gone through land registry at that point. We acheieved a much better price than they did with another agent, and paid a much lower fee (something like £1500 cheaper).
Oh and many years ago Connells offered me a job and then withdrew the offer. I got my revenge on a night out a couple of years later when I couldn't find a loo, by peeing in their doorway.Make £2025 in 2025

BAD experience.
They told us as we MUST visit their mortgage adviser BEFORE any offers put forward and then we wasted about 90 mins being sold insurances by the mortgage adviser (we had sorted a mortgage, well DIP elsewhere). They also were VERY persuasive about us having another credit check which I reluctantly agreed too. Do not like them0 -
I know when I was buying their properties were more expensive than comparable ones on with other agents and hung around for months when the market here was still moving relatively quickly, I'm guessing they tempt sellers in with a high valuation. They also put me right off with insisting we see their mortgage advisor. I politely refused saying we had this covered already, the agent then kept me outside the property we'd viewed telling me we were "incredibly naive" if we thought hsbc would give us a mortgage and to be even in with a chance of getting a mortgage we would need to see THEIR broker (not any broker, their broker) and that we wouldn't be considered serious buyer unless we had seen their guy. Needless to say we didn't even look at another Connells property, bought with someone else and the mortgage went through fine.
In short, I wouldn't even deal with them as a buyer let alone a seller.0 -

You actually want to boast about this in public ....?
...and what has this to do with Connells' performance for their clients?0
