Royal Mail Post - Saturdays missing?

I don't know if this is happening to anyone else but I have noticed a pattern in my postal delivery at home.
For some time now my mail is delivered much later than it used to be. Some days my mail is delivered at 3 or 4 in the afternoon. There is one thing that bothers me though; it seems that they just don't deliver at all on a Saturday anymore here. I haven't had any post on Saturdays for weeks now but on Mondays I get a big load. It's as though they have saved it all till Monday... I am guessing they are either missing some streets out for delivery on Saturday or not delivering any at all in some areas... Anyone else having this experience?

you dont live in christchurch by any chance to do you lady k?
this is what its like round here0 -
Mine used to arrive at about 9am, but a couple of months ago it moved to lunchtime. It's something to do with their re-structuring of services. We had a leaflet through the door before the changes asking to 'please bear with them'0

Ironically ours arrives at 8a.m. but we leave the house before that.
It may as well arrive at 6p.m. for all the use it is to us.
Typical isn't it.
It arrives early for people who don't need it.0 -
Royal Mail now have only one delivery per day, i would suggest you check with your local delivery office to check if they have started single delivery yet. As for the time you receive your mail you must realise not everyone can receive their mail at 8.00am or whenever it pleases them, someone has to be last and some one has to be first. A service which may help you is CALL AND COLLECT which is a service whereby Royal Mail will hold on to your mail and you can collect it at a time to suit you, perhaps on your way to work. As for no mail on saturday i see no reason you don't get mail but if you have any concerns i'm sure your local delivery office manager will be only too pleased to answer them.0

Mine always comes in the afternoon during the week and dead early at the weekend so postie man can knock off early and get to the pub0

I suppose someone has to defend them. Please don't blame your Postie for you mail being late, it aint our fault. In 18 months time, Royal Mail lose their monopoly so now they are taking every contract they can get their sticky paws on, therefore you will see an upturn in the amount of junk mail you will recieve. A great deal of this junk is sent to us at local delivery offices as walksorted, i.e eack walk has an amount of mail bundled up and ready to be sorted in its own frame, reducing sorting times. Unfortunatly, all the jobs on single daily delivery have changed and Royal mail has 'forgot' to tell the nice people who walksort the mail and these thousands of items of mail have to be sorted by hand. I start work at 4.30 in the morning and sort from then until 7.30, I then prepare my job, which on a good day takes a further 2 hours and then deliver for 4 hours all without a break, and only being paid for 8 hours. When you are under that much pressure, plus the sarcastic remarks from the public add inadiquate uniform, sooner or later something has to give. A lot of posties are going sick with stress and depression and their jobs have to covered on overtime. When you dont finish your own job until after 1.00 in the afternoon and have to do half another job then the explanation for afternoon post is obvious. Saturdays are a bit different as most posties refuse to deliver the junk or to give it its official title, mailsort, and leave it until Monday. I dont personally go to the pub as I am usually too damn tiredI'm back after a break :money:0

Perhaps your postie is picking up the mail, taking it home and going back to bed for a few hours and then delivering it on monday.
And before I get shouted at this does go on - I have / had 5 family members work for royal mail and there were a few people prosecuted for doing a similar thing.
It's worth mentioning it to the sorting office just in case.
Our post can arrive some weeks at 8:30am and others at 2 or 3pm. The people seem to vary as well.
The staff are really streched - however, I was really annoyed to find a recorded delivery letter in my outside letterbox with the label half torn off and the barcode taken off.
Errr... there was nobody in that day so who the hell signed for my letter?!! >:( >:( >:( >:(
I was going to complain but in all honesty nothing would be done.
It's a sign of things to come I'm afraid.Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]0 -
Being a Postman myself.I understand what is being said.
Saturday post is not missing its just that only 1st and 2nd class mail is delivered on Saturdays and not M3 or mailsort ( Junk Mail ) . As we say "M for Monday" .The trouble with that is that a lot of companies post their mail M3 as is very cheap for bulk posting ,Hence no mail for some customers on saturdays.
As for the times of deliverys ,As we are on a 5 day week now and SDD ( Single daily delivery ) the same amount of mail has to be delivered in a shorter week so the post will come later in the day.
Hope that clears some things up0
