These issues can be caused by the installer not checking the forward or return path & adjusting them accordingly with equaliser or attenuator jellybeans.Imagine a hill,at install the engineer should take 3 readings.A minus reading,and 2 plus readings at set points.If the slope between the highest & lowest (minus) reading is too high,say -12/+8/+16,the box has to work harder to 'climb the hill'.Over here we took the readings at 128/526/755 & the level should have been -6/+6/+12.
If the level is greater,it can be attenuated or equalized with different strength jellybeans.If your home is too close to the street cabinet & thus the signal strength is too high,a cable simulator can be used.These signal issues are one of the reasons cable boxes get hot.

The only reference our engineer made to figures was "the number should be as close to zero as possible, and yours is zero, so it's not that".
