I don't tip anyone. The price I am being charged includes everyone's wages so why should I pay more.

I take my son to a local barber and it costs £7 for his haircut and £7 is what I pay. I see people going before me tipping £5 more but I can hardly believe it because the lady barber drives a Range Rover, has a house in France and goes on lots of other holidays and she is always chatting about other expensive things she is doing. I am not doing those things so why would I give anymore of my hard earned cash to her.

Recently in a restaurant (chain) I paid my £26 ish bill with £30 cash and waited ages for my change, eventually I went to ask for it and the waitress had put it in the tip jar, I couldn't believe how presumptuous she was.

I am not being mean I just don't understand the mentality of paying more for something, you wouldn't tell Tesco to keep the change would you?

    I've always wondered this!
I actually never tip, but wondered if I should?

I'm a once every six months to a year kinda person and usually pay on card! Don't often go to same place each time either.

I don't regularly tip my hairdresser but I buy her a bottle of wine at Christmas & give her an extra £10 then too.

Her charges are set to cover her costs & make her income, but its nice to show my appreciation once a year.

I've always tipped my hairdresser - just something I was brought up to do.

On a £45 bill I will tip £5. They also do fringe trims in between, and don't charge anything, so I leave a £5 tip for that too. that stretches my actual haircuts out to around 16 weeks apart.

I use the same barber and I tip £1. If you're a regular customer and you tip, they will look after you.

Are you saying if you dont tip, they wont look after you?

how much looking after do you require in a barbers

Just realised this is an old thread resurected by a spammer..reported

I tip my hairdresser a small amount every time but don't with the beautician.

I've noticed after joining a new beauticians a few months ago and having now been passed around all of the staff that they seem to have an issue about me not tipping.

I spend £20 every 3 weeks getting my nails done and I'm damned if I am giving them anything on top of that.

Although at Christmas I would be inclined to give a tip or bring in a bottle of wine etc.

I only ever tip in restaurants, I've never tipped anywhere else. If somewhere gives me something for free or I get a good service and they have a charity pot, I will put something in there instead.

TBH before this thread I'd never even heard of anyone tipping a hairdresser!

£5 regardless of the price. although my standard visit amounts to £25.

i will never understand ppl that go to the likes of RUSH and T&G paying some £200. you arent getting anything better than what an independent hairdresser can do for u for £50 or even less.

You're just paying for the brand. nothing more.
  • Tipping is time and time again a frustrating thing.

Mind you, I'll put my foot in it in this case and there's not a chance I would tip a hairdresser in my regular routine. I would save the tip for any extra the hairdresser gives - if she does something interesting and new which requires a little more time, then I would tip.

I don't think that hairdressers expect a tip so it's not like your particular haridresser is vexed that you walk out with that extra cash in your pocket.
