At my friends 80s party we had Adam Ant ( he hired that one) a few Madonnas and Cyndi Laupers, a Kylie and Jason, a Morrisey, Carol Decker, an Officer and a Gentleman ( he looked gorgeous!) Bucks Fizz ( all dressed in orange with an inflatable champagne bottle) a few girls from Fame, ZZ top with big wigs and false beards and Bananarama.0

Thought of another few... Bananarama, Toni Basil - Oh Micky (Cheerleader song), and if you fancy dressing as a guy, anyone from the Young Ones! Or a Bros fan?"If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.":DMiss Mona, The Best Little *****house in Texas0

Shoulder pads, new romantics, big hair (I'm sporting that look at the moment), low court shoes (my favourites were black with a bronze edging) and jeans were always up to the waist, none of these low-slung ones! They'd started to get narrow (from flares) by the beginning of the eighties and wasn't there a fad for wearing long socks or leg warmers over skintight jeans?0

The range is huge - watch an episode of ashes to ashes or old dynasty/dallas are repeating CBS drama at the moment. Lots of shoulder pads, lots of hair and high heels.
Men can easily go as a new romantic - look for old spandau ballet on you tube.
Have funMama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
Thanks everyone, some really great ideas and advice. Knew I could count on you all;):)

Best and cheapest 80's theme idea I ever saw was a girl who arrived at a party I was at with chocolate smeared round her mouth.
