  • Reminds me of someone I used to live next door to, their (adult) stepdaughter setup a credit card in their name and was using it for months before anyone realised. It would be most likely something like that, they'd need access to your mail

Either your PC has pants security and has been 'hacked' or one of your family/friends has done this or you're making it up.

As others have said this would be nigh on impossible to do randomly. If I remember correctly when I registered you had to give details of your last payment to x account and more.

CreditExpert carries no information that would allow someone to access a bank account.
OP is mistaken or just making it up.

Sure? As your banks address isn't contained in your file. A generic address is sometimes included at the bottom of the file for correspondence.

And since your sort code and account number isn't included in your file, how do they know which account? and then you have the telephone banking password, which also isn't included, etc, and the security questions.

    I say troll.

I would have thought the bogus account at CreditExpert is part of the hack, rather than the source of the data. I've just looked at my own Experion credit report, it doesn't contain sufficient data to attack anything, really.

I'd suggest scan your PC with www.malwarebytes.org as a first course of action.

Also, as CreditExpert provide identity theft insurance and assistance as part of their service, I'd start being nice to them, you might be needing their help!

Just checked my Experian report. Although it mentions my full name and date of birth there are only vague references to my bank accounts and credit cards e.g. Lloyds, Barclaycard - no account numbers

Ok, so even if they had all the info on your file AND it included bank details which seems to be in doubt, how did they get your telephone banking password or ID? That for sure isn't part of creditexpert.

While it might be technically possible to do what has been outlined, saying "it was done very easily" is I think a bit of an exageration.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I think someone need to forward your comments to Experian so they can investigate your comments and not damage their business reputation.

If you write a cheque to anyone they have your bank details - a/c no and sort code. If you look up electoral rolls you can see how long someone has lived at an address. This information on its own is of little use to anyone, obviously, otherwise we would all be victims of fraud. Someone has got hold (through you and no-one else) your passwords and ID nos.
You need to look closer to home and not be blaming Experian! ;)
